WHO: This event is focused on volunteers for FZB26.
WHAT: Hypothermia is a multi-day training event on site that allows volunteer departments to offer in person training to new and returning volunteers for many aspects of the burn. Formerly the focus was on Safety, but now all teams and departments are invited to train during Hypothermia.
WHEN: Friday, Nov 14, 3:30pm to Sunday, Nov 16, 1pm
WHERE: Valkyrie Ranch, 2030 FM2104, Paige, TX 78659
The event is outdoors so please bring all you will need to tent camp or dry camp RVs; There will be
no water or electrical hook ups available on site.
WHY: At a burn, all departments are volunteer based. This means that most of the people who run this event are everyday people who just want to do their best and help out where they can. Training, like what is provided at Hypothermia, should give you the skills, understanding, and courage to fulfill your volunteer role to the best of your ability. We highly encourage cross training even if you are not going to volunteer with another department. Learning new opportunities for volunteering can expand your burn and open you up to new experiences. Many courses will also apply to all departments.
HOW: Please bring your own chair in order to allow for a safer training environment. We also recommend bringing portable shade structures (like EZ Ups) or golf umbrellas for you and your pod to sit under.
We will mainly be doing announcements via the Hypothermia Mailing List. Watch for e-mails from hypothermia-list@fzbtx.com or just anything from fzbtx.com.
