Did I fall asleep?

Long time no show. 17 months to be precise. Oops. Obviously, some things have changed; LJ has messed up parts of the layout, Photobucket seems to have eaten some of the graphics, and I seem to have forgotten how to make icons, and - even worse - how to use LJ. *shifty eyes* Joining a landcomm might be a good way to make a new start and to get creative again. So there you go...

So I finally managed to rework some of the old icons and graphics that are stored on my hard disc, waiting to be posted. It was interesting to see how bad my first icons have been and how much my graphic skills have improved over the last months. I still consider myself a beginner though. Long time no show. I changed from an old CRT monitor to an almost equally old, but better TFT and the difference (the look and feel of my graphics) was so big that I decided to re-make some of them. That took some time and I'm not sure what to think about the outcome. Most of the icons have been made for icontests and land comm challenges... there you go. :)

In case you don't know, a "haiku" is a japanese form of poetry, mostly consisting of three lines with 5/7/5 syllables.

Author's Note: This is my first ever fanfiction, well, except for a short story that I wrote several years ago for our role playing group. Written for a challenge at stargateland. Huge thanks to tj_teejay for her advice and beta-reading!

Another sleepless night. Another night of unsettling dreams and grueling thoughts afflicting him and keeping him awake, making him toss and turn. All these memories. Eyes wide open Rush stared blankly at the dark, metal ceiling, trying to shut out the pictures flashing through his mind.

"Focus, Nicholas. Focus!" he mumbled. "Focus on the essential. This ship. Destiny.."

A grim smile flickered across his tired face. So there he was. This was the place where he always wanted to be – the place where he was supposed to be. But still, he couldn't feel any satisfaction..., or relief. Only this emptiness that weighed so heavily on him.

Gloria...

A faint sigh escaped his lips and he turned on his other side on the uncomfortable bed. Maybe sleep would finally come and soothe the pain for a while.
