Piotr Knast, the CEO of Forglass is currently participating in the prestigious Glass Lyon 2026 conference, taking place from April 13–17 in Lyon, France. The event, held jointly with the International Commission on Glass Annual Meeting and the 18th European Society of Glass Conference, brings together leading experts from science and industry to discuss the latest advancements in glass technology and innovation.

During the ongoing conference, Piotr Knast has delivered a presentation titled “Decarbonization by reducing energy consumption using Forglass mixing electrodes® technology in standard and hybrid furnaces.” The lecture addressed key challenges and solutions related to improving energy efficiency and supporting decarbonization efforts in the glass industry.

Glass Lyon 2026 remains one of the most important global events for the glass sector, featuring plenary lectures and multiple parallel sessions covering a wide range of scientific and technological topics.

Forglass has just finished a hot repair project on a float furnace in Poland for one of the world’s leading producers of automotive and architectural glass. Following several successful furnace repair projects in the past, the client once again entrusted Forglass with the execution of this highly demanding operation.

Hot repair of a large float furnace is one of the most complex types of furnace repair and requires precise coordination of experienced teams as well as careful planning of every stage of the process. The entire operation must be organized in a way that minimizes glass-to-glass time, leaving no room for delays or errors. Each task has to be performed with maximum efficiency and accuracy to ensure that the work is completed correctly the first time.

As Stoelzle Glass Group prepares to restart its Flaconnage plant in Knottingley this December, Forglass is close to completing the delivery of the facility’s cullet handling, batch transport and entire batch plant automation system – a crucial component of the accelerated rebuild following the July 2025 fire.

Forglass team has been engaged in the immediate reconstruction of critical infrastructure. Thanks to the in-house manufacturing, standardized solutions, and experienced engineering team, Forglass is able – within just 3 months – to design, manufacture, install, and commission the entire cullet handling and batch transport systems.

The new systems are engineered for reliability, precision and high efficiency ensuring a stable, high-performance restart at the Knottingley facility.

Forglass has successfully finished its unique seminar series for glass producers from around the world. The initiative, aimed at sharing deep technical knowledge with glass industry professionals, proved to be a great success.

Led by Marian Klisch PhD, Head of Forglass R&D Department, the sessions focused on innovative glass melting technology in a simple way, using mathematical modelling, animations, and visualizations. “We wanted to present advanced processes and open a discussion on the real challenges the industry faces today,” said Piotr Knast, Forglass CEO. “Judging by the great response, we’ve clearly touched on topics that matter.”

In times when large new investments in the European glass industry are few and far in between, the investors get to choose between the best of the best engineering companies capable of delivering such large projects. In this case, the investor – Euroglas, member of the Swiss Glas Trösch Group – decided to build a new, environmentally friendly float glass plant in Lommel, Belgium.

Euroglas chose Forglass to deliver what is presently the largest batch plant in Europe. Forglass not only has the engineering and manufacturing prowess to design, manufacture and deliver such a batch plant, but they have also earned the reputation of being a reliable partner, who delivers on time, regardless of project size.

The scope of the project itself is massive, encompassing several of Forglass’ proprietary technologies, such as automation of the entire batch plant, advanced weighing system, micro dosing of minor components, entire cullet return system with crushers, mixers and metal detection systems. A significant advantage is that Forglass will design all of the machinery and manufacture it to the highest standards in its own factory in Poland.

In addition to its complexity and cutting-edge technology, the project is also noteworthy for other reasons. Big emphasis has been placed on making the entire plant environment and maintenance friendly. An additional, unique design characteristic is the low noise emission from the plant, required due to surrounding residential neighborhoods.

When Forglass delivers and commissions the new Euroglas batch plant in 2026, it will be one of the largest, most modern, maintenance and environment friendly batch plant in Europe.
