{"id":7513,"date":"2021-05-02T18:37:25","date_gmt":"2021-05-02T18:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/?p=7513"},"modified":"2021-12-15T11:29:45","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T11:29:45","slug":"three-drives-pattern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/three-drives-pattern\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Drives Pattern"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A reversal pattern indicates three consecutive and symmetrical attempts by the price to achieve a target price and then reversal is called a three drives pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article, I will explain the three drives pattern, the psychology behind this pattern, and a complete guide to using 3-drives pattern in a strategy to increase the winning ratio and probability of a trading setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is three drive pattern in forex?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3-Drive pattern consists of three approximately symmetrical waves making <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/trend-analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">higher highs<\/a> consecutively in case of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/trend-analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bullish trend<\/a>. Impulsive waves are indicated by 1-2-3 and retracement waves are indicated by a-b. I\u2019m not saying to exactly match the time here you will have to use common sense. You will know everything when you will back test three drive pattern.<\/li><li>Price must form symmetrical waves. Price pattern must be same.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drives-pattern-forex.jpg\" alt=\"three drives pattern forex\" class=\"wp-image-7516\" width=\"488\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drives-pattern-forex.jpg 624w, https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drives-pattern-forex-300x263.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s all. Only two rules to follow. There are other rules like using the Fibonacci tool but I will not recommend it. Because the main purpose of this pattern is to look for symmetry in patterns in time. Fibonacci is not a necessary tool for this pattern. However, if you are a beginner, I will recommend you to use Fibonacci for your convenience. Let me explain Fibonacci rules to be used to identify 3-drives patterns (optional).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Both retracement waves must retrace to Fibonacci 50 to 61.8 level.<\/li><li>Wave 2 and 3 must extend to Fibonacci extension 127.2 to 161.8 level.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drives-pattern.jpg\" alt=\"three drives pattern\" class=\"wp-image-7517\" width=\"562\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drives-pattern.jpg 690w, https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drives-pattern-300x223.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 562px) 100vw, 562px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Psychology of three drives pattern<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Psychology is very simple. Like if the price wants to go down but as there is a level above which is under the attention of many retail traders. There is a stop-loss level for a lot of traders. So institutions will be interested to hike the price to capture SL\u2019s. Also because of a lot of selling pressure institutions will try three consecutive attempts to break that level. After breaking that level price will come down like a falling arrow. Look at the image below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern-indicator.jpg\" alt=\"three drive pattern indicator\" class=\"wp-image-7519\" width=\"-198\" height=\"-167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern-indicator.jpg 583w, https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern-indicator-300x253.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Three drives pattern trading strategy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I will use two <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/confluence-in-forex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confluences<\/a> to make a valid and high probability three-drive setup. One will be the use of support &amp; resistance or Supply &amp; Demand to protect stop loss. Another one will be the use of upper described rules to filter out a good three drive pattern forex setup. At the end of the third wave, a <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/pin-bar-forex-trading-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pin bar<\/a> or engulfing candle is necessary to trigger an order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A valid three drive setup<\/li><li>Look at the left of the chart by zooming out to get an <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/supply-and-demand-vs-support-and-resistance\/\">S&amp;R<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/supply-and-demand-vs-support-and-resistance\/\">SnD<\/a> level<\/li><li>Look for a <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/pin-bar-forex-trading-strategy\/\">pin bar<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/engulfing-pattern-a-price-action-pattern\/\">engulfing<\/a> and then enter in that trade.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Stoploss level will be above the resistance level or below the support level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern-1024x626.jpg\" alt=\"three drive pattern\" class=\"wp-image-7520\" width=\"717\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern-1024x626.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern-768x469.jpg 768w, https:\/\/forexbee.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/three-drive-pattern.jpg 1054w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 717px) 100vw, 717px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>First take profit level will be at 61.8 Fibonacci level of total three waves and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> tp will be at the origin of the three drive pattern.
