How to Remove Duplicate Files Using 4n6 Duplicate Remover
You have three options for selecting the storage location for scanning duplicate files
i) My Computer (C Drive): This will search the root folder of your computer.
ii) Local Drives (C, D, E, F… Drives): This option will search in all the drives on your computer.
iii) Select a specific drive and folder: This option allows you to select a specific drive or folder. You can add multiple drives or folders depending on your specific needs.

5. Now the program is scanning the location to find the duplicate files, you need to wait till the scanning complete, it’s fast!
Enable the Show Error Logs option and see access denied error, it occurs due to read-only and hidden files so don't worry about this.
Now the program listed the search result by categorizing files by All, Document, Images, Audio, Video and Other. File name, Size, Category and Path are displayed. Moreover, all the duplicate files are auto checked for the ease of removing duplicate files. The program will preview the image files and for other file types, you can right click on the file name and open the folder or the file to preview.
You can modify the selection if required and click on Remove button which will permanently delete the selected files from your computer storage.
4n6 Duplicate Remover Filter Options
This software has five filter options to search specific duplicate files. Let’s know about all filters!
#1 File Name Filter
Enable the File Name filter option and type multiple possible names separated by commas as shown in the figure below. Thereafter, hit the Scan Duplicates button to start finding duplicate files based on specific filtered names. Here the search result can be interpreted as ‘file name contains the specific text’.
Once a specific search is completed, then you can preview duplicate files in the software window. Even software will automatically select duplicate files to remove them permanently. Click the Remove button to start deleting duplicate data.
#2 File Extension Filter
4n6 Duplicate Remover is programmed in such a way that you can use it to find specific extension duplicate items. You can type your preferred multiple extensions separated by commas. For example, if you want to remove duplicate PDF and CSV files from a hard drive then type these extensions in a specific field using commas but no need to enter dot (.) before file extensions as shown in the screenshot. Here the search will be based on exact match, for example, xls search won’t give xlsx result. You need to search xls,xlsx to get both.
As a result, the software will find out only specific extension (PDF and CSV) duplicates. Even automatically marked duplicated items are checked. Just click the Remove button to start removing specific extensions duplicates.
#3 Ignore File Filter
4n6 developers also added an inbuilt Ignore File filter option which is capable to ignore Hidden and Read-only files to remove duplicate items. We have added this feature because there is no need to remove duplicate hidden and read-only files. Thereafter, you can click the Scan Duplicates button to start removing duplicate items.
Read-only files are files that can be accessed and viewed but cannot be modified, deleted, or altered in any way. While Hidden files are files that are not typically displayed or visible in file managers or operating systems by default. Thus, we have added functionality to ignore these files to remove duplicates.
#4 File Type Filter
If you enable the File Type filter option, then it will provide you with multiple choices to remove duplicates from Document, Image, Audio, Video, and other items. From these multiple choices, if you enable Video option then it will find duplicate videos stored in MP4, MOV, WMV, AVI, AVCHD, FLV, F4V, SWF, and MKV extensions.
Once the duplicate scanning process is completed, then you can see duplicate videos in the software window. Even though the software automatically selects duplicate videos, press the Remove button to start removing duplicate videos.
#5 Size Filter
Enable Size filter option to find and remove duplicate data according to preferred size based on KB, MB, and GB. Select a preferred minimum and maximum size, see we have selected a minimum of 10 MB and a maximum of 20 MB. Click the Scan Duplicates button to find duplicate items.
After finishing the scanning process, the software will preview all specific-size files in the software panel. Lastly, click the Remove button to remove duplicates by size.
