๐จ๐ฝโ๐ป Why Flutter?
The Flutter Pod EP[0]
Hey there! We're Mitch and David, and we're both passionate Flutter developers. We wanted to create a central place for other Flutter devs to gather around in the community and stay up-to-date with the latest Flutter news, including business and tech in general. That's why we started "The Flutter Pod," a weekly podcast about all things related to Flutter.
As Flutter developers, we know that the subreddit is a great place to get information, but we've noticed that the quality of the posts has gone down a bit lately. We want to create a nice central place where Flutter developers can listen to us talk about news, interesting topics, and even branch out into other tech topics that directly impact Flutter developers, like new phones or business angles.
In our first episode, we wanted to introduce ourselves to the community so you can get to know us better. David started learning Flutter two or three years ago because he wanted to create an app for both Android and iOS. He had experience with Swift, but since he had to learn a new language anyways, he decided to pick up a technology that suits his needs better.
As for me, Mitch, I come from a business finance startup background, and I later picked up computer science during university. I decided I wanted to get my hands dirty in tech, and that's when I started creating Android apps with Java. But then, I had to decide between iOS and Android development, and that's when I discovered cross-platform development with Flutter. Ever since then, I haven't stopped because it just makes sense to me.
We both agree that Flutter is one of the easiest cross-platform solutions to use. It's incredibly easy to get started with, and it makes things that were previously difficult in native development, like animations and page transitions, much easier to implement. The visuals and animations you can achieve with Flutter make it feel like the way you want to make apps. It's also incredibly customizable, and you can achieve a lot without having to spend days or weeks figuring out how to do it in native development.
We know that some people are biased towards their platform of choice and tend to trash on cross-platform frameworks like Flutter. However, we believe that if you're a business owner or a new startup, Flutter is an excellent option because it saves time and resources. You don't need to have unlimited resources to create something great, and Flutter is a testament to that.
