<lj-template name="qotd" lang="en_GB"> The New Englan Patriots. I live in the Uk and once took part in a playby mail American Football Team. The Patriots were our team and we won our devision, (my ex-husband and I). As a result of this I really support them, (although I will admit to being a closet cheesehead! :D)

<lj-template name="qotd" lang="en_GB"> NCIS LA - it is far to cheesy for words and was from the get go. Plus the British Soaps Eastenders and Corination Street. These have gone on far to long and the plotlines are really ghastly.

<lj-template name="qotd" lang="en_GB"> It is a nest of handmade russian dolls with Star Trek character on it. The outside one was Picard, then Riker, then Worf, Q and the inner one was a Starfleet communicator.

I have been a fan of ST for a long time and this is the most unusual ST related gift that I have found. It was from my Sister, Brother in Law and their two children. The children had chosen it for me.

It was also very coincedental as I had been looking at normal russian dolls earlier on in the month and was thinking of buying one.

I recieved it for my birthday this year.

The Last Shuttle Flight - (The View of a Stargate Fan and Shuttle Fan)

Thirty years ago the world was in awe as a vessel called The Shuttle took to the skies.

I remember it well. It was a Sunday and my family had just been to church. I had been really excited because I was going to see the launch live. However my family wasn't going to make it home. I remember being rather upset. Our minister invited me to watch it at his house. So I remember being sat at the kitchen table of the minister in a room dominated be an aga (I think it was black), watching a small, portable colour television as Columbia lifted of the launch pad.

Of course for that flight all the tanks were painted white. It was before they took the paint off to save the weight. I watched as it flew up in to the sky and I felt like I was flying up there too. My heart and soul took flight with the astronauts as they took their place in history.

I for one have never lost that feeling. Every time I have watched a launch, or seen pictures of a mission, or seen pictures of earth taken from the shuttle, my heart has lifted high above me, to join the men and women who have been in space.

Now, thirty years later, (and I have a hard time believing that it's really been that long!), Atlantis has made its last journey. When it lands tomorrow it will be the end of an era. I think that it is a testament of that fact that space flight has become too familiar that Barack O'Bama has decided to save money by cutting funding, so the Shuttle has to go. It's a shame that I will never see it launch.

So what does that have to do with Stargate? Well as a fan the irony hasn't been lost on me. In SGA Atlantis ended up on earth and that's the way the series ended. The last shuttle, also named Atlantis is now on its way back from its final mission where it will land on Wednesday. After that it will remain on earth as that's where its journey will end.

It's a shame on both counts. :D

This is the Story that Was for #07 Light In The Dark challenge

This is the story that I would have posted for the challenge had I managed to stay awake and my mouse hadn't run out of batteries. :(

I am posting it because I wrote it and I want to share it! Hope nobody minds.

Title: A Light In Time
Author: flubber2kool
Fandom/Character(s)/Pairing(s): Original
Genre: fantasy
Rating: PG -13
Words: 877
Challenge/Prompt: Challenge 07 - Light in the Dark
Warnings: Mention of a specific method of killing but nothing graphic.

Belomir rushed towards the headland. She needed to do something and do it soon. There was a small group of ships coming home that night. One of them carried the Supreme Mage Archealus. If anything happened to him, the fall province of Cattilian would fall o Rohanan and his forces.

Someone, probably the turncoat Dronthir, must have told him about the trip. That would explain why the first targets had been the light towers on the headland. Without them any ships would have to wait outside the channel until morning. If she was right, the mage storm that she felt was coming would rip them to pieces. They had to make it to the port channel or all was lost.

She also knew that she would stand alone. Once Cittilian had four grand mages, Dronthir, Ameralk, Soren and her. Thanks to Dronthir, Ameralk and Soren had their throats cut. The only reason she got away was because her apprentice Transal took her identity to allow her to escape. She had no doubt that he had died for her. While she was deeply mournful at his passing she knew hat he had given her hope.

That was how she found herself riding towards the headland. In her pack she had some mages chalk, bread, cheese, a flask of milk and the bottle of elixir. It was this that scared her. The liquid contained in the bottle allowed people to seek help from the great mages of the celestial plane. This help came at a price especially for an untrained mind such as hers. However Belomir knew the cost of not taking it was far worse than loosing her sanity. She knew that now Ameralk and Soren were gone she couldn’t do it alone and this was the only choice she had.

Reaching the remains of the tower on the eastern side of the port channel, Belomir brought her horse to a standstill. Looking a the ruins she realised the enormity of the task ahead of her. She was now more certain than ever that the elixir was the only way that she stood a chance of completing the task at hand.

Swallowing hard she took her pack from the horse and took out the mage dust before laying the pack down. Slowly and deliberately she drew the symbol of protection on the ground. After that she sat down, opened her pack and got out the bread, cheese and milk. She began her meal and looked at the bottle as it sat there. When she had taken the last of the milk she took the bottle in her hand, popped the cork and began to drink. As she had no idea of how much to take she decided to drink it all.

Suddenly she began to drift away from her reality. As she did so the world changed around her. As a new world formed she realised that this must be the celestial plane. As she became aware of the world around her, she also felt a burning in her mind.

“My name is Brelomir of the Cittilian province. I have come to ask for your aid oh great ones. Our land has been attacked by an evil force and the light towers that signal the opening to our port channel have been destroyed. Our Supreme Mage is on one of the ships that are heading for port. I believe that a mage storm is on the way and if the ships cant make it in to the channel they will be destroyed. If the Supreme Mage is destroyed all our hopes will be gone and we will loose our homeland.”

One of the beings stepped forward. “My name is Aryon. I see that your thoughts are pure and I will help you. Walk forward child and accept my power. “

Brelomir held out her hand. As she did so she felt the power flow through her. It was like electricity.

Soon Brelomir found herself back on the headland. Without any hesitation Brelomir stood up and looked across the the channel. Her head was pounding. She knew that she had to hold on for a little while longer.

Summoning all her strength she formed the first light ball. It glowed bright as she cast it away to the ruin on the furthest shore. Waiting until the light ball had settled, she set about creating the second. As she did so she felt like her mind was being ripped from her head. As the second light ball fell on the ruin beside her mind gave out and she was enveloped in a blanket of white and she fell to the ground.

She awoke to the find herself in the arms of the Supreme Mage. He looked at her with a fondness in his eyes.

“Be still my dear. You have made a great sacrifice this day. For you have taken enough of the elixir to keep the path open forever. Aryon has managed to put up a barrier to try to help your mind to allow me to train you. Be strong and you will prevail. You will now fulfill the prophecy as a true child of the light and you will be our light in the darkness yet to come.”

Title Mitchell where's your trousers?
Rating R for the picture 13 for the story.
Word Count 1007
Characters Cam Mitchell, Teal'c, Sam Carter, Vala Mal Doran, Daniel Jackson and Original Characters.
Disclaimer The only characters that I can lay claim to are the ones that dont belong to the Stargate Franchise. None of the others belong to me.
A/N This story is being written for stargateland in connection with the first day of the Theme week challange. The prompt I have taken is prompt 37. SG1, Cam, Why me? and the inspiration for the underwear came from Natural Pouch Boxer Briefs.

Cam came to. He was in some sort of cell. It was cold, damp and smelled and he was alone. Then he noticed that he felt more than a little cold below his waist. This was more than a little worrying.

He decided that he would do a uniform check. He still had his jacket although the pockets were empty. His t-shirt was on and from what he could feel it was still intact and doing its job. Then he moved his hands down below his waist, following down the contours of the outside of his thighs. All he could feel was the cloth of his briefs and further down his naked flesh.

“Oh come on.” he raised his hands up in annoyance. “Why me? What have I done to the universe that it needs to keep taking my pants?”

Of course, as there was no-one else there, the question was merely rhetorical. And even if there had been anyone there, it was a certainty that they wouldn’t have been able to answer that question either.

Right now all Cam could do was sit down on the bench that ran across the back of the cell and wait brooding on the unfairness of it all..

Sometime later someone came to the cell and opened it. As they did so they looked at Cam, with eyes that could have been full of lust or envy or both. Cam was more than a little disconcerted at this.

“Supreme Leader Ashika will see you now”

The man pulled Cam out of the cell and in to the corridor. As he walked along it, he became aware of more and more sets of eyes, both male and female, staring at him as he went past. Had he grown two heads or something?

Then something pricked at the back of his mind. It was the word washing. All this succeeded in doing was totally confusing Cam. He was sure he would remember eventually. But right now he had to hope that his friends had been able to get him out of the mess he was in.

As he walked in to the council room he caught site of the rest of his team. As he watched Sam and Vala staring down at something below his waist, eyes wide and mouths open, it finally hit him. He was wearing the pair of natural pouch boxer briefs that gave him the type of anatomical enhancement that you could only miss if you were blind or very short sighted. What made it worse was the fact that they were sky blue. The person that gave them to him had said that it was a colour that went well with the fact that he was an air-force pilot.

Now he understood why the word washing had come to mind. He had been so busy on missions recently that he hadn’t been able to do any. As a result of which, these had been the only pair of clean briefs he could find before they left today. While they were really comfortable and all, and were definitely enhancing he hadn’t really intended showing them to the masses. Especially if the masses included the rest of his team.

It was then he looked up and saw Daniel staring at him intently. The look he was giving him was the same one he had when he got his hands on some ancient relic or other.

“As long as he doesn’t ask for a detailed examination.” Cam thought, trying not to get too freaked out by the situation.

Supreme Leader Ashika looked him up and down. Cam looked at her and felt her eyes stop at the same point that Sam and Vala had. He was really getting nervous as he had no idea what she was going to say.

“My dear Colonel, I am really sorry for the inconvenience that you have experienced. Your friends have explained the situation.” She looked at him again and smiled. “I hope that this misunderstanding will not harm the ties between earth and ourselves and that negotiations may be restarted at a later date. Colonel I hope that you will chose to return here as you appear to be a man of many assets, some of which I would love to explore with you.”

Teal’c raised his eyebrows and said nothing.

Cam really winced at this and with as much dignity as he could muster under the circumstances, nodded in thanks.

“Thank you ma’am. Would it be all right if we headed back to the stargate? I just want to go home now if that’s ok with you.”

Ashika nodded and SG-1 headed for the stargate. The journey back to the gate took less time that it had when they had arrived. All Cam wanted to do was get back to the SGC, get some pants on and forget that this day ever happened.

********

Walter was sitting in the control room when the sirens went off. “Unscheduled Off-World Activation”

General Landry came in and took up position just beside Walter.

“We have an IDC. It’s Colonel Mitchell’s.”

Landry furrowed his brow. “They’re not due back for another six hours.”

Suddenly there was the familiar Kwoosh. The puddle established itself and SG-1 walked down in to the gateroom. General Landry looked twice to make sure that he really was seeing what he was looking at. The rest of the team headed by Colonel Mitchell, wearing some very non-regulation briefs. In fact, they were so non-regulation that he didn’t even know they made them like that.

Reaching over to the intercom Landry said, “Welcome back Colonel. I can’t wait to read your mission report.”

With his humiliation complete he turned and looked at his team. “Don’t say a thing.”

With that, he turned on his heels and left.
On the way out, he was convinced he heard Vala say, “Mmm he definitely has nice assets. He should wear those more often.”

Cam sighed and kept going.

<lj-template name="qotd" lang="en_LJ">I have had a think of this and the only things that I could think of are any of the movies that have been made and/or stared Mel Brookes, (Spaceballs comes to mind) and The Bourne movies. Matt Damon was amazing in those movies and I dont think they would be the same if anyone else was in them.

I wrote a ST:XI story and nobody has bothered to comment. I don't even know if anyone has even bothered reading it. It's not that I want lots of comments but just one would be nice. Ah well such is the life of a fan-fic writer! (I haven't jumped ship from my Startgate fandom. I am just taking a dip in another fandom universe!)

I didn't make any resolutions apart from the one in my last post. But I guess that I should make a few.

1) To post my stories to my journal (SGA, Crossovers and ST)

2) Get my life in to order. (More chance of me captaining the Enterprise! ;-) )

3) learning to love ME!

Well thats a start.

HAPPY 2010 TO ANYONE WHO READS THIS!

Writer's Block: Do you prefer a tent or a luxury hotel?

<lj-template name="qotd" lang="en_LJ">

I would really really love to say that I would spend my weekend camping but I have needs that could not be met by sleeping in the woods.

If I could have the best of both worlds I would spend the days in the woods and the nights in the hotel and that would be cool as I should really get out there and expose myself to the outdoors. I also love a Campfire. There is nothing nicer than sitting round a campfire and watching the colours of the flames. Also, I have no doubt that the company would be great too.

And not forgetting burning yourself on red hot marshmellows and getting laughed at in the process!!
Its not so much that I don't believe that everything has a scientific explanation, its more that I don't really care. I don't need to have someone explain everything that happens in that way to know that it happens and that fine by me.

I like that fact that there is some mystery in the world and I hope that it is always ever that way!

Writer's Block: Call Me

<lj-template name="qotd">I use a mixture of all three. I use my landline because I get free calls to my parents and other landline numbers that are not the ones with the special codes. I can also ring some international numbers free too. Then I use my computer to chat in various ways to my friends. I also carry a cell phone so that I can be intouch with the family to let them know that I am ok as I go through my day.

So I guess that which one I use depends on what I am doing and who I am needing to contact and when.
