FloofStack Seventh Edition
Welcome to the seventh edition of FloofStack!
Getting in early with a happy new year to you and your furballs!
Hey, thank you for subscribing and following. Like my good friends Nur Nadar and Cindy Ojczyk with their respective WoofStack and PetStack publications, this is the corner of Substack that’s just out to have a bit of fun.
I shared in an edition of Cindy’s PetStack that a big part of why I wanted to start FloofStack was:
“I believe there is more that connects us than separates us. But in order to do that, we need to be open to that possibility, which is why I'm so locked in on curiosity. There's so much that can be opened with a simple question. As a crazy cat man, it's really only a hop and a skip away from curiosity to the spiritual animal of 'cats', which brought me to FloofStack. Pets are pretty universal. I get cats aren't for everyone, but they (along with all our other pets) represent a different form of connection that so many people can relate to. There's a joyful simplicity to their lives, yet they represent some of the most steadfast companions that people can have. We can laugh at (or with) them, get a cuddle when we're down, and find a different type of fulfilment.
So wherever you are, I hope you and your floofs have a wonderful end to 2024 and a great start to 2025 (and I hope your cats haven’t managed to completely destroy any Xmas decorations).
Community floofs
We have some new submissions! Here’s Val with two floofs from her family home in Brunei. First up is Roxy, “…who is essentially just a fluffy pillow. You can carry her around everywhere and she's just like, "la la la la la.... Oh pats? Yes please. La la la la la". She's an airhead but lets everyone cuddle her so I love her.”

Next up is Kiki, who is apparently a diva. He loves going outside to watch the birds from the front porch. Then he tries to pick a fight with neighbourhood cats but is actually too chicken and so runs back inside screaming without actually getting close enough for any damage.

And finally, here’s my other cat Lexi trying to eat her foot.
Writers and their cats
Ernest Hemingway is already well-known for his love of cats, in particular his fondness for 6-toed felines (also known as Hemingway’s Cats or polydactyl cats).

What really tickled me were some of his quotes, which share some profound insights (if we squint hard enough).
“A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.” Bibilography
Or in other words, if we want to seek true authenticity, we really should just learn from cats. So please excuse me whilst I go barf up my breakfast.
No animal has more liberty than the cat, but it buries the mess it makes. The cat is the best anarchist.
One interpretation of this I have is: Freedom comes with consequences. Take responsibility for it.
One cat just leads to another.
Just facts.
Happy new year!
That’s all I got. Happy new year folks! As always, send in pics of your cats to feature them here!

That last cat quote is SO TRUE. Also true of books and tattoos 😵💫.
I’d love to add a fourth indoor cat, but our Chewy order is nearly $300 every three weeks for three indoors and two ferals 🤦🏼♀️.
