So... I haven't updated in forever. Life is crazy. Started some new things. See illustratest that I opened with pamkips. As of three weeks ago, I'm a typesetter for Red Hawk Scans & MRI. So far I've typeset Beelzebub, Hayate no Gotoku and Bakuman. It's a lot of fun. On Friday I start drawing class on shade & shadow at the community center. Really looking forward to it because it's my weakest point in manga coloring.

Still looking for a new job, also trying to figure out how the hell I can go back to school and get a degree in graphic design and minor in hotel management. I know that sounds like a weird as hell combo, but it's what I want to do so puffs and I can make our dream of owning a steampunk bed & breakfast/tea house. That's the long term, but I need to find something in the short term or the long term will never happen.

ANYWAY.

I got into Pottermore a few weeks ago and forgot to post here. I'm StormErised126. So if you're already in, add me and comment here so I know what to nickname you as. :) I, unsurprisingly, sorted into Ravenclaw. My wand is Hazel with a phoenix feather core, 12¼ inches. 2. I will be driving to Kansas City to visit my dad and step-mom with my brother and his girlfriend on Friday. We will be returning on the 22/23rd.

Ugh. This is just a little post to say I'm not dead and icons have not completely consumed me (believe it or not!)

I will be moving house on Saturday so I've got a million things to do here before then. We are moving from out in the middle of BFE into an apartment that is on a bus line, a short walk from my mom's and a short drive from the grocery store, my brother's work and his church. Currently it is 24mi round trip for my brother to get to work/church and 20 mi round trip to get to the grocery store. The van we have gets 15-17mi per gallon. So I'm sure you can guess how much this is going to save us each month.

My laptop randomly stopped charging this evening. The battery is dead and everything I need to finish my vg20in20 claim is on there. And so is everything else I need for icon making. I'm on my brother's computer right now. I'm in full out panic mode right now. I'm gonna get on my laptop's website to see if I can get them to send me a new adapter since I'm still under warranty.

This would be so much less stressful if I had any money. I'm still waiting on my paychecks. I've gotten a whopping $200 since the paychecks that arrived at Christmas. I'm just so stressed out over everything and idk wtf to do any more.

I haven't really made a post here that wasn't icons in awhile. But in other news, my step-mom was diagnosed with Breast cancer earlier this month. It was caught early, but not early enough. It spread beyond what they removed, so she has to undergo radiation therapy.

Friday I have to take my mom to the hospital so she can get a colonoscopy. She also has an appointment set up for next month, I think, for a mammogram because she found a lump in her breast. Hopefully it's not cancer, but it probably is considering my grandma had it. She had to have two surgeries because of it.

IDK. I'm just so fucking sick of everything going fucking wrong in mine and my family's lives.

My day just got incredibly shitty. I went to check my bank account and find that it's negative $100. Turns out that I had misread the due date for my Columbia House obligation. I thought I had to buy the three DVDs by the 15th, so I let my brother talk me out of taking care of it on Saturday. Turns out it was due by the 5th. So I got charged $69, get no DVDs and I get a lovely $30 overdraft fee.

And I have no clue when I'm gonna be able to take care of it because I don't know when I'm gonna get paid.

So now I'm just a complete wreck and I can't stop crying.

shounenbattle Round 4 excitement

I'm excited about my plans for the upcoming round of shounenbattle. I still need to come up with the designs for the identity icons, though I've got a loose idea for them in my mind. This round is going to be a little different from past rounds because it's a team challenge as well as still remaining a normal battle.

And if you couldn't tell from the banner it's going to be Pirates vs. Ninjas vs. Zombies vs. Robots*.

I'm just hoping we get some more participants. We've got 22 so far, but I'm really hoping to have 28-32 participants. So if you make icons and like shounen/seinen series you should join. :3 Or at least pimp it somewhere so we might get more participants.

So I don't think I ever posted about my Christmas, but this was seriously one of the best ones I've had. My mom bought me a kitten. When we were opening gifts I open up this odd shaped package and inside it is a litter box, a bag of kitten chow, a scratch pad and a food/water dish.

On Sunday my mom took me to the pet store her friend works at to look at the kittens. And there was this adorable orange tabby named Simba. And he was just the most affectionate kitten ever. He also happened to have been born on my birthday. I had to have him.

The story behind him though was a bit sad. His previous owner bought him from there and then brought him back the same night because he sneezed. She left him outside the store in a box. The next day she called up and asked if she could have him back. She was told no. Then she asked for a refund and my mom's friend informed her she wouldn't be getting one. Then a couple months later I come along and I got to take him home with me.

He's absolutely precious (and precocious).

... Yeah, um. Earlier this week I was feeling suicidal as I plummeted from a manic mood down to a full out depressed mood. No, attempts were not made nor even considered. I just had bad thoughts was all. It's nothing new or anything to worry about. I know I could have just laughed and said "haha suicide, how'd that get on there?" but I don't want to lie about it or brush it off as a laughing matter, because it's not. I just don't want you guys to worry about me is all. ♥

ANYWAY. Onto some brighter news, I've had a really good couple of days. I earned some gaia cash by watching pilsbury, duncan hines and axe commercials. Boring stuff, but I earned enough to buy some Bitter Frosts from the cash shop. For those not in the know, it's basically like a blind box with a game/story attached to it. The first one I played got me one of the new but inexpensive items, the Mujaji. The next got me some random junk item that I sold back to the shops. I don't even remember what it was. But then the next one I opened, I got a victory and went ahead and opened that... and won a Cutie Heroine. Wound up selling that so I could buy a Sandman. And then I played one more and won a Rogue Narok. I generally don't have good luck with the RIGs (Random Item Generator), but this week's luck has been exceptional.

I've been up forever at this point now. Well, I napped for a few hours this morning, but I've still been up far too long, so I'm off to bed now. Probably.

My internet was down all of last night, so finding out I won the round was a pleasant thing to wake up to. It made being eliminated in icon_tournament easier. Though I kind of expected that would be the case when I saw the icon I was up against. It was great even making it past the preliminaries though. Next time I will aim to make it further! :D

So, I've made it into the finals for beauty_lims round 7! I'm really excited. Making icons for it has been really hard because it's all using stock photography and I'm so used to making icons of people and animanga/video game characters. It's so different.

Anyway, I'm signing up for round 8, which should be fun~

Overall I've been doing very well in icontests and LIMS lately. I can definitely see the improvement in my icons from this summer to now. Except for the icons where I just give up/be lazy about it. Those are... not so good, but still better than my really old icons.

I've also noticed that I use a LOT of pink tones in my icons. IDK why I tend to default to that color... I'm not even a big fan of the color.

Breaking radio silence

I've been crap about keeping up with anything the last several days. I'e been swinging back and forth between depressed and manic a lot this month due to stuff that happened this time of year two years ago, plus all sorts of other bullshit. And I really don't like making too many posts about how emotionally/mentally unstable I can be at times.

On a brighter note. I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 on Sunday with lokojo7 and ravenpan and one of their RP buddies. It was nice to have a day out with the girls. ♥ We had butterbeers when we got back to ravenpan's house and I didn't realize until I had drank mine just how much booze was in it. And on a mostly empty stomach, it didn't react very well with my meds. But a bowl of noodles later and things were good again.

I got to see all my surrogate nephews and nieces while I was over there. They're all getting so big. ;w; I really need to visit more often. I need real people time.

I finally watched Mad Men season 4. And I finished my rewatching of all the past Top Chef seasons. Seasons 2-5 I had previously only seen a couple episodes each. But now I've seen every episode and I'm ready for season 8 to start in a week. \o/ I'm not sure who I'm rooting for this coming season. I really like most of them, but I do know it will be a dramatic season with all those people under one roof and in competition with each other.

I feel bad that I don't update much, but most of the time, I don't know what to post about. Living out in the boonies with no reliable mode of transportation (as my brother and I share the car and my sleep cycle is ever changing so half the time I'm never awake when I have access to the car) means I don't do a whole lot of interesting things that don't involve being at home alone. I work from home, so I don't really have any interesting co-worker stories to talk about.

I feel really boring and uninteresting. I mean, I could tell you about how I did laundry yesterday and washed dishes today. But I don't think you really care.

And then I have things I want to talk about, but I'm afraid to. Or don't know the right words to really explain it.

This week has been pretty shitty.

I lost my cellphone on Tuesday. Got it back on Friday. The guy who found the phone left a confusing voice mail on my mom's phone that lead me to believe my phone had been lost on the premises of the elementary school I went and voted at. Something along the lines of "some kid left it here, so I've turned it into the office."

Turns out that the school is closed for construction, so when I went back Wednesday and it was closed I was surprised and left with clueless construction workers who could tell me nothing about where my phone might be. Thursday I went to the district administration office because I figured if it had been lost at the school, maybe it had been relocated there. I spent a good half an hour up there while one of the secretaries called around for me. I left contact info and went on my way.

Thursday night my mom contacts me through AIM and finds out that my phone is located at the office here where I live which means I lost my phone at the mailbox. I guess because it had this cellphone charm attached, the guy assumed it belonged to a kid. :| I picked it up from the office when I went to pay rent today.

Thursday was my mom and late grandmother's birthday. I tried to be happy, but I was depressed about not having my phone so I couldn't actually call my mom to wish her a happy birthday. And then it occurred to me that it was also my grandma's birthday and that made me really sad. Especially considering it was so close (as always) to an election day. And that always brings up a big can of worms for me because even though I know it's not really my fault, I still feel guilty about her death. I'm getting choked up writing about this, so I'm just going to leave it at that.

Today was okay, though I stood in line forever at the credit union to get our official check for paying rent and that compounded with I guess all the stress from this week and has left me feeling like every muscle in my body is burning. Like I have a sunburn on my muscles. And they all feel extra heavy and I'm very cranky about all this.

And then I give people at shounenbattle two weeks to make two icons and only half of them submitted, so I had to do an hour extension. Which I hate doing because I feel like it's unfair to everyone who submitted on time. And then after that hour only a couple others submitted and we're still missing close to half the submissions, so I gave another extension. And I'm really cranky about it because they had TWO WEEKS to make an icon. And I'm just irritated. The challenge itself was easy (though getting the bonus points not so much). So I really don't understand what the holdup is.

On the plus side, I have enjoyed watching anime and movies with junkmail and unsquared. The three of us have been watching Inazuma Eleven (we just finished season 1 tonight) and unsquared and I have watched a few movies, Kuragehime and Shiki.

I also got two packages in the mail today with tea in them from a tea exchange I signed up for. One of them from the ever so lovely kaalee and the other from someone else on lauriegilbert's flist. I've tried the Tiramisu and Apple teas from kaalee so far and they are both divine. *A* I'm looking forward to trying all the others. I also need to get out to the tea store this week because every time I've been near it, I didn't have the list of what people liked/didn't like with me.

Fuck this fucking shit

So a couple months ago we got this outrageous water bill with our rent statement. $140. FOR WATER. That we didn't even use. We went to the office and talked to them about it, and they said they'd get it sorted with the water company and get back to us about it, and to not worry about it until then.

On our next rent statement, we get charged a late fee for that, but again we're told not to worry about it, they're trying to get it worked out. Then a few weeks back we get a notice about how if we don't take care of this water bill and these two months late fees, we'll be taken to court for eviction.

SO we go to talk to them and the guy says that he was unable to get the water bill situation resolved, but he'd take of our late fees when we paid the water bill and not to worry about it, we could take care of it with our upcoming rent. Today in the mail we get a summons for a court date set on Nov 9th or 10th for our EVICTION hearing. Even though we were told not to worry about it, nothing would be escalated.

My brother called a bit ago to find out what it's going to cost us to get this settled out of court. We have to pay the water bill, our rent and the court fees which just so happen to be just as much as the late fees.

I am beyond furious.
