Kagome stirred the broth. Inuyasha has lectured her and lectured her about how the ramen needed to be put together you would have thought he was twenty first century connoisseur of ramen. instead a hanyou from the Sengoku Jidai

She sighed. The rainy season was particularly bad this year. Why he insisted on taking Ouji out for a run in the rain she could not understand. The boy did not even have a proper rain coat to keep off the rain.

She stared out the window. Imagining Ouji cold and frightened. Shivering in the cold rain. Damn that Inuyasha. Why didn't he listen when she told him no. ? It did not help that Ouji had been bouncing off the wall from being cooped up

In the end it was Ouji that convinced her. He was so eager to please his father that he would have done anything that he asked him to do. Why then had inuyasha insisted on doing something that could make him sick.

There was a crash. In the lightning she could see Ouji sprinting toward the holl use with Inuyasha hot on his heels. A moment later they were inside shaking themselves that she had always found so cute

She started to yell at them not to do so but she already had a towel in hand drying Ouji's fur Once she was convinced he was had him change into his pajamas so she could take care of his father and his foolishness

Inuyasha grinned " That boy is really hard to tire out,but he should sleep well tonight. Don't tell him that I let him win or I will never hear the end of it"

Kagome stared at her husband Of course Inuyasha had never thought about racing his son through the pouring rain. He knew better than anyone that such weather conditions could never stop their son in whose blood ran that of a kami and a daiyoukai.

She was just lucky that Oujo i thought of himself as just another boy who happened to have a hanyou for a father and a kami for a grandmother. A boy who loved to race his father in the rain until it literally wore him out.

She handed Inuyasha the bowl of ramen. He winked at her The boy was out like a advantage of wearing out his son was that he would get all the ramen was insufferable, but she loved him anyway

The Gay Youkai Gentlemen's Club was all atwitter. There was a new girl in town. She appeared one day as a waitress She h and joking with the patrons. Opinion was split She had to be a trap. There was simply no woman that beautiful in his day and age.

Normally real women did not cross the threshold of the Club. There was no place for them. Youkai came to be with other youkai. Even though humans were no barred they were frowned upon. Similarly women were not barred at the door,but one look inside the club made it clear that there weas no place for them here.

So why was she here One she was an under aged human girl. Of all the perversions that the club members shared loli was not one of them. Tws Inuyasha and Shippou were clearly keeping an eye out for her No one was put their hands on her or cross her in any manner.

Still Kagome triumphed. Despite their best efforts to protect Kagome, Kagome became a shining star in the club Instead of rejecting the members treated her like a princess. She ilaughed at this treatment At the same time she gave a sneer to Inuyasha and Shippou. She had taken her situation and twisted it to her own advantage. Now that she was a Hime she would have to see what she could do with that0 title.

Inuyasha stared at the questions on the paper in front of him. Nothing he had faced a thousand times before from his tutor in the past four years. from an untrained ruffian he had become a man that Kagome could be proud of this day and age.

While Kagome had conquered Todai , Inuyasha had conquered twelve year sof Japanese education. He might not have a high school diploma but passing the National Center Exam would show any college that he was prepared to enter college as any of the other half million people who faced this exam.

The charm he no faith in . Kagome had always told him that the man was a fraud. Surely his charms were no better. Kagome's bento was great,but he had been so nervous that he ate it on the way to Test Center The Bento might have been great but it could not replace Kagome

The hours passed quickly as he raced the clock to complete the first day of the exam Lucky for him, he had lived through much of the history,of Japan Hands mother had trained him in calligraphy, and the classics of Japanese Literature There were no surprises on th exam

Kagome came to pick him up after the end of he first day. She admired he was woke With no formal education , Inuyasha was trying to attain a level that few modern Japanese reached. She had willing to go to the Civil War and become the wife of a Japanese peasant.

Inuyasha was similarly willing to face the terror of modern age the National Center Exam in order to achieve the same level of education as she had.

After he exam he slept for a week. The results were mailed to him shortly after the exam. While it was not fear she had faced when looking for her number at her high school of choice it was the difference between success and failure When he read the results Kagome hugged him and whispered in his ear

nuyasha looked at the castle through different eyes. Kagome had told him that the Hojo would be gone in less than forty years. It might be the largest castle in the world, but it would surrender with out being breached.

He remembered Kamakura, the last outpost of the Hojo. The clan had died and burned that day. This Hojo clan would be gone in less than forty years Yet the castle they built still stood today An edifice to the uselessness of castles when faced with a determined besieger

He sighed. Kagome took his hand and looked at him. "eve are not your people. Their fate is not your fate. History may condemn them,but it does not condemn you. You are not alone. Even if Sesshoumaru is not much of a brother he is family. Most of all you have me"

Inuyasha nodded. Intellectually he understood. Somehow he hoped that some of his relatives the Hojo had escaped the mass suicide of Kamakura. He understood why he had wanted Sesshoumaru to recognize him as family. Kagome and her family were more of a family than he ever would be

They thanked Akitoki Hojo and headed back to Sunset Village knowing that they would not be able to communicate with Hojo authorities about stopping the raids on their village They would have to come up with their own plan of dealing with the Hojo since dealing with them as family would not work

Eventually the wave of history would wash over Odwara wiping out the Hojo but leaving the castle standing as a monument to the stupidity of those who trusted in such things. Instead he would put his trust in himself ,Kagome and the friends he had made while searching for the Jewel

Kagome was no place to be She left neither food a note. Normally he would head over tKaede' s where the stew he loved was always on.,but neither Kaede nor Miroku or Sango were around. He would have to find something on his own.

In his early years he had almost starved, but he found that he could live off human villages until they caught on and ran him out. It was only then that he was forced to kill and eat food in the wild.

Hunting was something he learned through trial and error. Always a trial and always in error. It was amazing that he survived The lesson he learned best was fishing. That was why he insisted on doing it for Kagome. to show off his skills as a hunter and provider He noticed

Ouji staring at him. It was high time that his son learned how to fish. The river was just down the hill and he could show off his fishing prowess for his son Soon he was busy in the river throwing on fish after another on the bank.

He motioned for Ouji to get into water beside him. Bending down he faced into the current and put iinto the water. A fat carp approached his location. Just as he was about to snag it,

OUji flashed in front of him in his canine formOuji lunged into the water and came up with the fish in his mouth. He trotted for and deposited it on the bank. This went on for a good hour until Ouji decided that they had enough fish for dinner.

Inuyasha pulled his lighter out of his pocket and the kindling. Soon the fish was done and Inuyasha passed the fish to Ouji who gobbled it up. They has just consumed the last fish when Kagome appeared with a flash.

Ouji squealed and jumped on her She patted his head and asked him what he was doing He proudly pointed to the pile of fish and stated " I was showing Dad how to catch fish"

Summary Inuyasha 's buys Alia's star for Kagome (a sequel to Reaching for the Stars in The Adventures of Ouji and Princess Pupp

t was the perfect gift. Inuyasha had thought long and hard about it. This first anniversary gift had to be something that showed Kagome what he thought of her. Show her that everything that they had gone through together was worth it.

He consulted with Sesshoumaru's mother and Kagome mother. Shippou and even Rin. The only person he did not ask was Sesshoumaru. That would have been too humiliating He was sure that his brother would say something demeaning about his qualifications to be married to Kagome

Although this was not on their list he saw it advertised in the shrine gift shop. Funds for the purchase would go directly to the shrines where the stars were being sold. Without seeing that ad he never would have bought a star for Kaogme.

That and ramen were all that the couple could afford. Kagome was not working and he was only working parttime whilehe raised his level of education up to the modern era. Jichan had even given him a granddaughter discount when he bought it.

The star was not what he was expecting. It was an actual star painted on a black background. Not on e that was up in the sky. The stars which most people bought were actual stars in the heaven, These we re merely stars painted with a luminescent paintbo

Still there was something magical aut them. Jichan said thatt hey had actually been painted byk ami. Who was he to argue.? And to find a star painted with Kagome's name had to be a one in million shot

He prepared the ramen Hopefully Kagome would not be too upset. Cup ramen was still his favorite It had seen them through all the tough times of he first year of marriage where Kagome took classes at Todai while he worked and studied to prepare for the future

He had just taped the star to the ceiling when Kagome came in. She stared blankly at him, the ramen and the star. She burst into tears. He leaped to comfort her. When she finally settled down, she told him that she was pregnant.

Inuyasha fed her ramen to settle her stomach while she choked back her tears and told him of her fears. He assured that no matter what they would make it. hey had been through so much before. Now they had two families who could help them through the hard times ahead.

If she needed to ,she could take a years off to handle the pregnancy. She was so overwhelmed with his concern that they ended up making love on their futon beneath the star.

Later as she gazed at the star she realized that it was truly magical. It was no accident that it bore her name. the inscription "With love from your daughter Alia" was puzzling but maybe it was a sign from the kami that she should name a daughter Alia

Whatever it was , she was glad that Inuyasha had bought her a star HIs love , the love of her family and he love of the daughter who send her a star overwhelmed her. She was lucky to have that so many people loved her. And that kami would watch over her and her new daughter.

She could hardly be blamed for the character she was drawn from. It was only a character in a book after all. Even though the memories were ingrained in her, that person was not her and thouse memories were not hers.

But her grandmother had assented to keep the peace. And her mother had sighed and given in the crazies kamis An that was how she ended up here panting stars on the firmament of heaven

They were not even real stars It was actually a money making scam perpetrated by the kami to make up for declining monies contributed at shrines All completely legal All tax deductible to the faithful

As soon as she painted one on the ceiling, it disappeared All her hard work gone up in smoke. Normally.,names would appear on the star as soon as she finished them. She assumed that the name or number as it were meant something.

The sim wemt down signalling the end of the end. Alia was exhausted She noticed that one star that shepainted was still in the sky The name "Kagome" was emblazoned on it. Alia looked around and put the star in her pocket Wouldn't Mom be surprised?

When she got home and reached for the star she found that it was gone. She had nothing to give her Mom. The star that had her name on it had disappeared.

Then she remembered. She was there to observe Sent by Amatersu herself. She had been given the coordinates by that little bitch who knew the location of everything in the universe Why couldn't she observe Ragnarok? Why did the kami care about someone else's end of he world?

No it was their assignment and Mama said they had to play nice with Amaterasu So here they were at the end of the world. Dead gods, dead giants, dead wolf , dead snake, dead sun. Bridge broken in two. The earth had sunk. Nothing else to see here She threw her knife into the abyss to signal her grandmother that she was ready to come home

The moment she left, a new sun shone in the heavens. The earth was raised up. Two gods were released from Hell. Two humans emerged from the forest to repopulate the globe. All this was missed by Alia and Ouji

Amaterasu handed the printout from Wikipedia to Alia "Here is what you missed by leaving too soon"
Behind her back, Alia gave the Queen of the Gods the finger. She could have just given them this printout. There was no need to go there. She did notice that no mention was made of the Abyss. That was the only thing that interested her She would have to go back to Ragnorok and find out what happens when the abyss stares back

What was it like giving birth to a kami?"

Kaede's question confused Kagome and yet it brought back so many memories. The first memory was her mother tellng her that she named her to because she saw a star inside of her.

Kagome was amazed that her mother could see the Jewel , but there was no other reasonable explanation When asked what color it had her mother told that it was clear while light pulsing from her chest

She remembered when her own son Ouji was born, the pain was overwhelming until Princess Puppy told her hand and told her to follow her. /As followed inuhime no Kami down the corridor toward the light the pain when away.
When they reached the end of the tunnel, the goddess handed her a small white dog and told her

" I have done my part to bring OUji to you. It is up to you to bring him the rest O the way"

Princess Puppy gave her a shove which sent her hurtling down the corridor handing onto oui for dear life until he appeared between her legs. Inuyasha tried to help but the boy seemed to know where he was going as he latched onto her teats and began sucking.

When she finished tellng Kaede the miko was silent. Nothing in her training had prepared her for dealing with children of the kami. She wondered if the corridor and the white light were actual or merely metaphors for helpng humans deal with such events.

"What do you think ,Kagome?"

Kagome replied " I was so grateful for Ouji that forgot my anger at Princess Puppy. After all the pain was so bad that I went white at times. She could have stopped the pain at any time. She could have brought Ouji to me without dragging down that corridor which could have led to death for both me and Ouji"

"Why do you think she did it?"

"I think she wanted to realized how painful it is bring life into this world How deadly birth is where one mistep can kill both of you Lastly I think that she wanted me to realize how precious life is Despite all the pain and sufferingOuji was worth everything went through to bring him into this world"

Kagome hugged him. It was hard to believe that after three years he was actually here. She hadb been prepared to jump into the abyss and return to the Sengoku Jidai to be with Inuyasha. Instead he had come to her.

She had the best of all possible worlds. She did not have to give up her home to be with Inuyasha. She pinched him just to see if he was real.

Inuyasha started "What did you do that for?"

"I have been wanting to touch you for the last 3 years I thought that i would never see you again. That is why I jumped into the well So what was the first thing you wanted to do when you arrived here"

Inuyasha stared at her This was one of those trick questions that Shippou warned him about because he and Miroku never got right. Truth be told all he could thnk about was the cup ramen waiting for him in Mrs Highurashi's cupboard, but he could not tell Kaome that"

Inuyasha whispered into her ear " I just wanted to tell you I love you"

From the hug Kagome gave him and the blood curdling squeal she let out ,he know that he had given the right answer. Somewhere out there Shippou and Mirolu were smiling He had finally done the right thing.

It had been a long day. Graduating wishing to see Inuyasha, having the sky open on the other side of the well. Hugging Inuyasha. Being introduced to Miroku and Sango and their three children.

Shippou never stopped talking Getting glared at by Sesshoumaru. The look on the villagers faces as she was introduced to the council. Spending time with Kaede to change clothes and assume her new duties as assistant to the Miko.

She and Inuyasha really had not spend any time alone. He was the reason she came back to the Sengoku Jidai It was unfair that her time was being monopolized by everyone else At least they were together now.

Together at the place where Inuyasha had waited for her for three years A place overlooking the village, and the well As darkness fell, Kagome became shocked by the river of stars that shone brightly over their heads.

She shivered and Inuyasha draped the fire rat's cloak over her. Maybe she was shivering because of the enormity of what she had done. Returned to a place where war was normal

Where youkai hunted men. Where there were no phones, no TV, no traffic Only the sounds of the villagers settling down for the night, the insects and animals hunting in the night

Yet she had no fear She was not alone. She was with the man she loved and nothing else had the will to make the leap of faith to reach the life that she wanted for herself As

Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her and kissed ,she thanked the kami for giving her the choice to see him again. A choice she would never regret

The spy stood before the Houjo spymaster. The spymaster motioned his man to come forward and give his report

"So what do you have to report about this Akitoki Houjou?"

The spy began a tale about a seemingly obscure person The tale started with two relics which this family supposedly had. This man Akitoki Houjou had been sent to dispose of a robe rumored to belong to Kaguya and a naginata which had belonged to a youkai

Both items were considered to be myth and legend Not the subject that a spymaster should inquire about. The family of this Akitoki was unremarkable Nothing said that threat to the spymaster. Besides they were not using these items They destroyed them

"So if that is all that you have ,why have you asked to give a report in person ? This is waste of my time"
"Sire in following this fool , I discovered a threat to your family. The one who helped him destroy the cloak ard the naginata was a hanyou by the name of Inuyasha"

The spymaster stirred This conversation was drifting into the realm of fantasy. Moon goddesses did not exist. Youkai who wielded naginata that could destroy Japan did not exist. Inuyoukai hanyou did not exist

"Why are you telling me all this?"

"Because said hanyou is in Odawara and made contact with Akitoki hoping to gain a meeting with the daiymo"

"Why would a hanyou want to see the daiymo?'

"Because we have been raiding villages where he lives. Apparently he thought that his connection to the Houjou clan would stop the raids"

What is his connection to the Houjou clan?"

"His mother who was a Shimazu princess had a Houjou mother"

"Wait are you talking about Houjou of Kamakura They are not even connected to us "

"Akitoki Houjou made him aware that he is not part of our clan He has left Odawara"

"He has a sword that is capable of bringing down a kami, a daiyoukai and taken down several castles"

"The spymaster was disturbed "You are just telling me now Follow this man Find out his village and follow him wherever he goes If he appears to be a danger to us,liquidate him Just make sure it cannot be traced back to us?

Desperately she flung her arms out to stop her descent Any minute now she would reach the ground and end the voice in her head that even now taunted her Just when it seemed hopeless she reached out her hands and came up with fur

Ouji yelped His sister was more trouble than she was worth Every night she had the same dream and ended up falling off the bed. Even on the futon or floor she ended up falling The solution that his parents came up with was to place him in dog form by the bed.

Thanks Mom To be wakened every night by a falling sister He whimpered as she grabbed his fur and came in for a head first landing. She deserved to be licked And licked she was until her laughter woke up her mother and father

Kagome patted Ouji on his head. Her son had once again done his job to cushion her daughter's nightly falls. Even if they could not get her death in the book out of her head at least they could cushion her fall

Kagomr picked Alia up and hugged her to her chest. Of course Alia immediately tried to nurse Being a kami naturally there was milk in her breasts to comfort Alia Kagome settled down next to her husband to complete her nightly task

Someday Alia would put her past behind her and accept her present life. Until then all her family could do was catch her when she fell, comfort her and ease her pain Alia just needed to know that she was loved and protected by her new family

Inuhime no kami stared at the huge piles of weit littering the shrine grounds. Ouji might be a toilet trained kami, but as a large puppy he left much to be desired. Now she was going to have to discipline him\

But how. Kagome had suggested rubbing his nose in it or hitting him on the nose with her fan Apparently she had dealt with him in this form before. It was humiliating that his mother knew more about him than she did but that was to be expected Kagome dealt with him ninety nine percent of the time

Just because he was a kami, she could not expect him to behave well without being trained to do so. Kami could theoretically do anything they want They were limited only by the authority of the other kami and their understanding of proper behavior

She did not want to punish Ouji The idea of reward and punishment to alter behavior was foreign to her nature,but could she actually reason with him and show him what he ought to be doing That was the question

Ouji was sulking Baba had forced him to pick up all the poop scattered around the shrine grounds. It was so unfair He was a dog and dogs should be allowed to go when they want where they want

Princess Puppy sighed The time for the lesson had come " Ouji why did you poop on the shrine grounds?"

Ouji perked up " That is silly Baba Pooping is something dogs do best"
Inuhime no kami held her tongue "But you are a kami whether in inu or human form Don't you think it is disrespectful to the worshippers that the have to deal with your poop They are here to honor you and you disrespect them by pooping on their place of worship"

"But Baba shouldn't they expect a kami who is a dog to poop"

His grandmother was out of patience ' If you cannot control your pooping at the shrine i will have to ban you from the shrine."

Ouji changed form and tried to use the puppy dog eyes, but Inuhime no Kami was not buying

"Do you poop in your mother's house?"

Ouji shook his head no . "Why do not poop there and you poop here?"

Ouji replied " Because Mama won't let me in the house as a dog and Papa threatens me with his sword if I do

She nodded " You are banned from the shrine unless you are in human form"

Ouji started to protest but he could see that just like Mama Baba could no longer be persuaded He would have to take his pooping elsewhere

The first box he opened shocked him. The plastic crysknives were just perfect. Time to prepare his spiel sell the merchandise for his great granddaughter's shrine. No better time than the present

Jichan looked up to see a tall man in traditional clothes. His hair was wild, but he reminded Jichan of someone he had seen before. Jichan might not be much of priest but he could tell the divine from the fakes that he sold

"Eminence you honor your humble servant with your present"

Jichan heard a snort and looked up to Alia followed a large white dog and his daughter in law

"You got a lot of nerve coming to my shrine and making fun of the merchandise"

"How dare you use the gift I gave you to make cheap knockoffs to fool the rubes"

"Yours is the knockoff. Since there is no such thing as a real crysknife. Might as well help my family by using it for my shrine. I may have been created from book but I am not that person Thanks to my family I have been able to grow beyond that person"Now get out before I set the dog on you"

Kagome stared at the pots on the fire. One for soap One for mutton stew One for dye. When Inuyasha had dumped the sheep on their doorstep, it had been a godsend Amazing that one animal could have so many uses Food, soap and clothing

Just then she felt an urge Inuyasha had made the hole that they had in their hut in Japan If she was lucky she would make it before she peed her pants. Inuyasha would never understand her needs after three hundred years When a woman said she had to go she meant now

Inuyasha wandered down to the fire pit He had been very tired when he came home Now being ravenous it was time to eat There were three pots and no Kagome Shrugging his shoulders he decided that he could not wait The question was what was edible

He sniffed at the first pot A piece of wool was attached to a stick Leaves were floating in the water coloring it and the wool indigo He stuck his nose in the liquid but only succeeded in turning his nose a purplish blue Not edible

The second pot hit his nose with an acrid smell There were two pots One containing oil The other containing the acrid smelling liquid This could not be good or edible unless Kagome was trying to kill him

The last pot seemed to contain parts of the sheep he had brought in He tried to scoop some out but only succeeeded in burning his nose Which was now a nice reddish purple The sheep was as tough as shoe leather Kagome was trying to starve him

Kagome stared at him " What on earth are you doing?"

Inuyasha folded his arms "Keh, where is my dinner,woman?"

He barely got those words out of his mouth before he hit the ground Kagome was pounding him into the ground with sits When he finally waved surrender Kagome sighed " Dinner was hours ago You can have whatever the boys did not eat In the future stay away from my pots"

Instead, she had taken their credit card and hit Nijjiya's Market Not just one box She had set up a charge account for the bar. They would receiving food from the bar well into the next century

The worse part was that they could not stop her. Nijiya's and the credit card company had carefully explained that to stop the payment and the shipment of food all they had to do was to swear out a complaint against Kaillie.

She had them over a barrel. Inuyasha immediately threw in the towel. He could not turn her over to the authorities after going to so much trouble to find her. They would just have to eat the food that she had ordered.

A/N Part of the Old Fort Boise series My father worked at Camp Downey in WW2. It was run by the Mennonite Central Committee where those from historic peace churches replaced workers drafted into military service

The boys had not been out for a run in a long time. The barbed wire The guard towers and the guns that kept them made them more restless. The boys had never known fear. They had faced the Army and the Indians without fear What was a few guns?

Their parents warned them against escaping. Escape could bring death. No one knew what effect an escape would have on the camp authorities. Right now they operated autonomously If they rocked the boat , the city could become an actual prison camp.

Boys will be boys They had not listened to their parents when they told them not to become miners, sailors, guides, trappers and scouts What harm could a little run do? It was Sunday There was no work They could easily be back before they were missed.

They slipped out at night leaping the fence in a single bound. The one thing they missed most was trees. They had lived surrounded by trees for 100 years The desert was just too strange. The time to go was tonight

They picked the Sawtooth National Forest as their destination. Playing there off the beaten path seemed the best way to avoid contact with persons who might report them. Even though the weather reports called for rain they ignored them

Once in the forest they faced a foe that they never anticipated. A wildfire was raging out of control in the forest caused by lightning At same time a torrential rainstorm and violent winds were out of control The boys could not see the nose in front of their face.

The only good part about the rain was that it seemed to be dousing the fire so they find lanes to run through where the fire had been extinguished by the rainstorm. They would attracted by the sound of falling trees when an opening appeared

There huddled behind the fallen timber and makeshift berm were a half dozen firefighters The boys were shocked. They were under the impression that all available forest service personnel were either fighting fires on west coast or in the Pacific fighting the Japanese.
The two parties approached each other tenativiely One of the boys spoke first "What are you doing out in the rain.?" "Fire balloons " came the answer The boys looked at each other They had never heard of a fire balloon this far east.

'" Where are you from?" asked the firefighters The boys hesitated then finally answered " Twin Falls" That kept their real location secret in case these persons might suspect them. "How about you?"
" We are from the CPS camp at Downey Normally we do civilian conservation corps duties but the Forest Service was short of firefighters so they sent us. Unfortunately we do not know how to get back to camp because of the rain and the smoke."

The boys realized that they had happened on people who would never report them. They were people from historic peace churches interned in camps just they were Leading the fire fighters out of the forest where their vehicles were parked they hitched a ride to the main road between Twin Falls and Pocatello

There the two groups parted. The CPS group returning to Camp Downey and the boys making their way back to internment camp. They made it back before the curfew so none but their parents were any wiser.

The stories were never told because the CPS group knew that no one wold every belief them and the boys because they knew their father would tan their hide if he knew what they had done. It would be thieir secret

This version of Kagome somewhat unnerved Inuyasha Once they established her routine she followed it to the letter. No matter what task they set before her, she always was equal to it.

If they called for her to be up at 7:00am , she was always ready for inspection by that time. If her keepers were even a minute late she would get restless and roll them out of bed

A fifteen year old could not serve drinks in the bar, but she could wipe the tables before the other help came bar hours they hid her in the kitchen or upstairs on the computer

She had dropped out of school,but once into the online courses she was able to get up to her grade level in no time at all. In fact she put Inuyasha and Shippou to shame as they had to scramble to keep up with her.

The patrons found her kind, punctual and neat to a fault. No order was ever misplaced or forgotten. The service and cleanliness was always above anything they had hoped for.

Which made Inuyasha and Shippou wonder what had happened to drunk he had taken home and the person wanted by the State of California for crimes and misdemeanors. Shippou jokingly called her Mary Sunshine because of her disposition and her smiles.

Although her attitude made their job easier, Inuyasha wondered what had become of the person that they had taken in Was she for real or was she just hiding her true personality under the surface until they let their guard down?

Summary The boys live through the Battle of Little Big Horn

The boys had not learned there lesson from Fort Fetterman. Spurred by the lure of easy money they joined the scouts at Fort Abraham Lincoln. At they left the fort they listened to the sounds of the band as the 7th Cavalry departed.

The words and music of "Gary Owen " seemed to spur the command on. It did not end when they left the fort. Not only was it sung on the march ,but around the campfires as well. General Custer had adopted it as theme song for his unit after hearing Myles Keough sing it.

The boys were most surprised after the scouts were sent off before the battle by Custer and the command sang it lustily as they charged into the camp. The General explained earlier that he considered it a good luck charm which has led them to victory over Black Kettle at Washita.

He thought that a similar result would occur here if he just followed the same path as he had before. There was rumors that if he was successful here that it could lead him all the way The five companies believed in him and charged forward singing lustily.

After their retreat to Last Stand Hill, the boys lost sight of them in the dust surrounding the battle. The only indication that the battle was still going on was the singing of the troopers above the din of battle.
It was when the music stopped that the boys knew the battle was over. Whatever magic " Garry Owen " provided for Custer died with him. That night the only sound was the drums and chanting from the camps.

The boys never scouted again for the army They had been lucky to escape with their lives. Every time they heard " Gary Owen" played they were haunted by what happened that day. Their parents had warned them not to get involved , but they knew better

None of that was important now. The Sunny Lady had hidden Mama and she needed to find her. Mama should not be hard to find. After all she smelled like Mama the most wonderful thing in the world

The paths of the forest were confusing It was now drizzling so that Alia could not see in front of her. Still no sign of Mama. She had to extend her own sight and forge ahead. Suddenly the path swerved into foot deep snow

"Where is she?"

Her faithful servant pointed to the map " She is now in alternate universe and is about to meet a different Kagome."

Alia found herself buried in snow. Ahead she could see Mama under attack by white men with cannons. Mama had raised a barrier but that would not protect her against the cannons. Alia as was her wont went on er offensive. Killing the cannoneers No one should shoot Mama

Before she could reach Mama she felt herself sinking into the snow Suddenly she was ina room where a women was firing at a screen. She was not Mama. Where is Mama? The Lady turned and looked at her in shock

"What are you doing here,Alia?"

Alia shook her head " The Sunny Lady told me to find Mama is not here"
The kami shook her head How could Amatersu allow a homicidal monster to roam free and yet she was condemned to a shrine that was not her own. " Kagome will be home after school"

The universe changed. Alia found herself in a strange room with tow men that looked Daddy and Shippou. But not her daddy and Shippou. The girl who smelled like Mama but was not Mama started screaming that she must have had bad acid because little girls were popping into her room.

Alia was no sure what a bad trip was, but she was sure that this girl was not Mama even if she had the same soul as Mama. She felt herself being shifted again. This time she was in Daddy's Forest again.

Groups of armored soldiers were sneaking toward her hometown. She could sense Mama and Daddy. Daddy was watching the soldiers and preparing to attack. Mama was asleep in Baba Kaede's hut. She could not let them hurt Mama.

A ring of fire rose up in front of the soldiers. They froze illuminated by the flame. Inuyasha watched silently as Houjou warriors headed back to Edo Castle. Alia headed to Kaedes' hut where she discovered to her horror that the woman she protected was not Mama.

She felt herself shifting again. Sailing through the clouds along side a soul collector until she reached a tree where she found a women using the soul collectors to tie Mama to a tree. The women looked like Mama but was not Mama. The other women was Mama, but younger.

The two stared at her Alia wondered what she should do. Should she interfere and free Mama Just as she started to attack the soul collectors, Daddy came into the clearing and started talking to the dead lady. He did not even see Mama,but the dead lady kissed him.

That was when things got strange . The dead lady tried to take Daddy to hell but Mama took her souls before she could This is the Mama that Alia knew The one who did not need Alia's help to kick the dead lady's butt

The world shifted again. She found herself back in her own bed. Mama was sleeping next to Daddy with Ouji curled up next to her. She shoved Ouji out of the way and took her rightful place next to Mama She did not need to look for Mama Mama was at home right where she should be
