I tried to create something similar to the banner but for the life of me I couldnt get it. :\ ... Tell me what you think
WARNING: Extremely image intensive. Not dial-up friendly
1)I started out with this image>cropped it to 700x350

2)Duplicate the base>adjust Contrast/Brightness > Set Contrast: 25 Brightness: 10

3)Create new layer>fill with #bea978>set to darken at 75%

4)Copy merge>paste new layer on top>desaturate (Shift L)

5)Adjust>Automatic Contrast enhancement>Bias: Darker Strength:Normal Appearence:bold

6)Adjust>Brightness/Contrast>Clarify:5

7)Set that layer to Exclusion:20%

8)Duplicate>change blend mode to soft light at 100%

9)Paste on grunge texture>set to multiply at 50%(after coloring with #bea978)
Texture

10)Paste on grunge texture>set to multiply at 75%(after coloring with #bea978)
Texture

11)Select your eraser tool>set to a low opacity and lightly clear up the area where river and simon are

12)Copy merge>paste on the new layer on top>set to burn at 35%

13)use this gradient>screen>40% (sorry I dont know who its by)

14)Create new layer>fill with #bea978 (color from above> set to color legacy 20%

15)Create new layer>fill dark grey (sorry no color number)> set to burn 25%

16)Use these ink splatters (again, sorry Im horrible with keeping track who made what)>color them with the same tan as above>Set to Dodge at 25%

17)Paste ink splatters on again this time with a darker red coloring>set to softlight at 50%>Use eraser brush on low opacity to get rid of square edges
18)Paste this texture on>set to Overlay at 100%

19)Now we are basically done. I added a few more ink splatters here and there on top of the bright splatters to tone it down a bit. For text I used Copperplate Gothic Behind the text I used the rectangle tool and set it to softlight at about 60%. Dropped shadow once.

And thats basically it! Fiddle around with it all you want. Can be applied to icons as well. Here is an example:
Hope this was.. somewhat clear. Feel free to ask questions.
