on patriotism
i normally hate patriotism... if your country is great, then everyone else is worse than you, and that leads to all sorts of messy things. like hate, and racism, and apartheid... etc etc. it just seems like a bad idea.
i've also never been a patriot because ireland seems to suck. we've got the normal stupidity shared with all peoples everywhere, but it's here and in your face, AND we've got skangers, and i'm sure they're worse than the equivelants any other countries have to offer.
but after being away for two weeks a week or a bit more ago, i have to say that irish trees and grass are a hell of a lot greener and 'purer', even, than anything i saw on the way. i also prefer the weather; it rains and is overcasta lot, but at least 3 months of the year aren't unbearably and unfailingly HOT.
but the trees stand out for me. man i love irish trees. it's all the rain y'see. they're just so damn alive. :)
g'bye.
