Plato's Republic is painfully bad. Why have so many people told me to read it? Why was it on so many college courses, even in my final year? Why does anyone give it the time of day? I can see the historical import of it, sure; and sometimes the distinctions he makes are interesting. Sometimes the writing, aesthetically speaking, isn't too bad. But still. "Isn't it obvious, Glaucon, that a person can't do fill two roles adequately, and that he'd better stick to one?" "Isn't it of course wrong for a man to imitate a bad man in poetry and drama; don't you agree that that will make him do such akrasiatic things as cry over the death of loved ones?"

Stupid Plato... but on the plus side, Gmail have a new feature! It's sublime. Go, get a Gmail account. Quick.

Someone changed the userpic that was a cartoon of me to a picture of Dastardly and Muttley. Is this normal?
