Aha! My Fifth Song!
'Member when I got a meme off IdealIsMe, in which I had to list five songs that began with the letter V, but could only find four? Well. Here's my fifth.
Julien Ribot: Vega, Pts. I and II
I found this song on a CD of the same name when I went to a big French music/book/DVD store in Nice recently. There was a little listening post, so I listened to the first track on the album ('Super Aaah') and decided that it was promising enough that it was worth the chance parting with my money for it. And I think it was. The two 'Vega' songs aren't the best, but they're an excuse to let you all know about what is a very good album; and the better because, being French, it has all these little French musical quirks that are really cute/cool/interesting. So you get a window to a different musical culture, even though the album is still definitely within the pop/rock mainstream. (Apparently, it sounds like Elton John. I can sort of buy that; but there's a little but of Steve Vai in there too, and maybe even some Debussy!)
