I'm Orf.

To Edinburgh.

As you may or may not know, since sometime in the 50s or 60s, the Scottish (I think) government set up an international arts festival, with the hope of getting people from all over Europe to come and help the economy and make friends and stop anti-German prejudice (because we're all friends now) and so on. Well and good. The first or second year, as far as I remember, though, some other acts came along and invited themselves to perform and did just that. So there were two festivals: the International and the 'Fringe.'

Over 40 years on, and the Edinburgh festival is the biggest arts festival in the whole world. It lasts almost a month, and there's a book festival, jazz festival, film festival, comedy festival... the Fringe festival is the biggest, and its program alone is 400 pages long.

It's absolutely the most amazing thing ever, and I am going - for my second time - tomorrow morning, until the 3rd of September. In that time, poor LiveJournal will get not a passing thought. So, until next month, I wish you all the best of luck.
