A day in the life
Ah... as usual, procrastinating until the last possible second. Go me!
I spent most of the afternoon online at www.animemusicvideos.org downloading all sorts of funny, sweet, beautiful, and occasionally bad-ass videos. And some really good music, too. I still like the One Piece: Captain Hampton video the best. :-) Probably because I'm currently obsessed with One Piece, HA!
Tonight was verrrrrrry good, though. For one thing, Courtney is back to the girl I knew first quarter, for the most part. She's been cheerful and upbeat and talkative, and it's a very nice change. Lyndsay is sweet and cheerful and bubble-headed (like me) as usual. Excellent!
But, more importantly... I was walking down High street (the main drag through Columbus, which runs along one edge of campus) and I decided that i wanted to go to the coffee shop next to the main library instead of my usual choice between Brenen's and Starbucks. Yes, I love starbucks, you can make your own decisions about that. I don't consider it a statement, it's just out of my dorm and I happen to like the coffee and the atmosphere. Anyway. So I'm walking up the Oval (a big green area with trees and lots of walkways) right in front of the main library. It's about half past 8, and there's very few people around. I'm walking up the main drag, leading right to the library doors. This GORGEOUS guy walks past me, going the other direction, and we make eye contact and smile. And then, just like out of a cheezy romance movie, we both look over our shoulders at each other, make eye contact AGAIN, and turn around and walk back towards each other, right in the friggin' center of the oval, with no one else around. It was just like magic, folks. It went something like this:
(after we'd both taken off our headphones, haha!!)
Him: So, uh.... what's your name?
Me: Kathryn.
Him: Nice to meet you! I'm Joe. *shakes hands* So, uh... what are you doing this weekend, I guess!
Me: Not much! *and yes I was giggling, duh*
Joe: Can I get your number then? *fumbling for a pen*
Hee hee! I won't transcribe the whole conversation, though it really wasn't that long. He's an English major, a little taller than me, built kind of like I am, only a guy and fit, bleach-blond hair... very sweet. And unsure of himself, he asked my name a second time and told me his again (like I was gonna forget it!!!) and then we went on our ways. Lord knows if he's actually going to CALL, but sweet jebus, it was just like out of the movies. And I loved every second of it.
I actually wound up going back to Brenen's, because Java master (the place at the library) closed at 9, so it was total random chance that I met this guy. If I hadn't been in exactly the right place at the right time, we would have missed each other. Crazy.
Brenen's was fun, too. I read the Dhammapada, (the collection of wisdom from the Buddha) and it was one of the most pleasurable, enlightening things I've ever read. I loved it. I have to write an essay about it, go me! but shortly after I got there and started working, these two guys came in and sat down near me. One started studying, but the other one was on his cell phone when he came in. ANd he was on his cell phone THE WHOLE TIME THEY WERE THERE. Which was well over an hour and a half. And he was STILL on his cell phone when they left! *shakes her head*
What was really funny, was when after those two left (this was getting near closing time, so only a few people were left around), me, another guy who had been sitting near me, and a girl who worked there all started talking about Mr. Talking Head... apparently the girl had been in Math 131 with the guy and thought he was one of the most annoying men on the planet (I happen to agree, he was really loud). It just amused me that I don't even know those two's names, and we talked very genially for quite some time. I dunno, just fun. ^^
Now I have to go type that essay on the Dhammapada, and read summore stuff online and then type an essay about THAT. No sleep for me! And I can't skip theatre recitation tomorrow, as much as I would like to, because otherwise I automatically fail the class. XD (this would be because I'm only allowed so many absences, and I've already used 'em all up. god I suck! :-D) So, I'm off! night kids!
