Listens: Cherry Lips // Garbage

Waited your whole life for this

An assortment of links and updates before I head to the front line (aka my bathroom) to attempt to re-dye my hair. It's sadly overdue for a touch up on the color—the magenta has faded to peach and orange and it looks sort of retarded. Ahem.

First, anyone who would still like to sign up for the mix exchange is still more than welcome to. I am extending it a bit because I myself was super-absent this week and so were a lot of other folks, between Drama and Sick and the Strike and whatnot, so I thought I'd link it one last time. :)

Second, a really interesting article by the former lead singer of the Talking Heads, David Byrne, about changes occurring in the music industry right now. It's a very encouraging, informative little article, and very much worth reading. David Byrne's Survival Strategies For Emerging Artists

Next, those of you who are familiar with the blog Pharyngula may be interested in the fact that the author, PZ Myers, was thrown out of a screening of the conservative Christian movie "Expelled." (Hello, Irony!) The really funny thing is that Myer's guest, Richard Dawkins, well-known atheist writer and author of "The God Delusion," was permitted to go inside, along with the rest of Myer's family. Good job, right-wing nutjobs! Details here, here and here. (Courtesy of the lovely zarq)

On a related note, I don't really consider myself an atheist, but I thought this comic was hysterical. Courtesy of kiji_kat.

And finally, I encourage anyone with a working sense of humor to check out the blog Stuff White People Like. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SO TRUE!! Let's see here, I like pretty much everything on the list, but my favorites include:

1. Coffee
2. Religions Their Parents Don't Belong To
8. Barack Obama
10. Wes Anderson Movies
19. Traveling
36. Breakfast Places
40. Apple Products
42. Sushi
50. Irony
51. Living By the Water
53. Dogs
88. Having Gay Friends

In fact, I'm guessing the only one I DON'T enjoy in some degree on there is #67, Standing Still At Concerts. AHAHAHA.

Speaking of Wes Anderson Movies, panxa and I rented "Batman Begins," "The Darjeeling Limited," and this random update of "The Wizard of Oz" called "Tinman." HOORAY FOR MOVIES! I have done almost nothing but laze around since I returned from Ohio, save for going running yesterday, and I'm enjoying the sunny weather immensely. I will also be working on Easter, which is going to suck, more than likely; not the fact I'm working on a holiday, inherently, because I just saw my family back in Ohio and I don't...really care, but more the fact that people who go out to eat on holidays have the capacity to suck kind of a lot. I'll probably make good money though.

And now I really must go dye my hair or I'll never finish before I have to go to work. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
