So. I just finished reading it.
-I loved it. You can feel free to have a hate-on for it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. PoA will always be my favorite, simply because it is STILL unequaled in its plot-twisty and dark brilliance, but this was good.
-Dumbledore did...kind of suck at being a good parent-figure to Tom Riddle. I mean, wtf? Yes, let's allow a clearly issue-ridden 11-year-old to go off on his own with his own money, unsupervised, and then "see what happened." Um. Right. And Rowling is a PARENT, too. *stares* I have mixed feelings about that (Yes, Kiri, I went back and read your bitch-fest and while I definitely don't agree with all your points, this one stuck with me) but I dun think it makes him ebil. It just made me go, huh?
-I still love the Weasleys. And Hermione. And all of the characters, actually; they're none of them perfect and you can see that, even distorted as things are, a bit, as seen through Harry's eyes. That's the way the world is. The Weasleys were shitty to Fleur, and unnecessarily so, but that's...how people are, even good people. I cannot think of a single person, much less an entire (already clearly ornery and stubborn) family, who does not have a whole messload of big flaws, just like anyone else. That doesn't make them Ebil or unworthy of being protagonists, but that's my opinion. Same goes for Harry (who has proved himself to be a bit of a cocky shit, but again, that doesn't make him a bad person).
-I am going to risk inviting flames in my journal by telling all the people who are bitching about the pairings to STFU. Not just coz I loved 'em (though I DO) but because - dude. They're...her characters. And she...clearly has a better idea of how they would behave than you do, and I will stand by that to all comers. I will agree that H/R might be kind of sucky to damage the Trio, but I still like it, and let's be honest, that's how these things work - good/best friends make the best S.O.'s. *eyes her RL friends meaningfully* I was super-squicked by the possibility of Tonks being in love with Sirius, though. OMGWTF, isn't he her cousin? *squicks horribly* Remus/Tonks was kinda outta the blue, but I think I like it. I think what I like most is that both of them HAVE somebody, when they've been so damn sad and lonely; they deserve some lovin', even if I'm not 100% gung-ho for that particular (somewhat random) hookup.
-Ginny PWNZ. <3 <3 <3 ♥ ♥ ♥ I loved her so fecking much. And no I don't think she was only her own woman just because she was holding out to be with Harry; just because you still hold an attraction to someone doesn't mean that you live your entire life hoping they're going to notice you.
-I cried like a baby, dude, but I'm not surprised. I kind of figured Dumbledore had to die. ...*sniffles*
-SNAPE! OMG, SNAPE! *screams* I don't think he's a baddie, exactly; I think it has something to do with his Unbreakable Vow, or whatever, and asdlkfjaskldghalsdkfjasldfjkasldfjk WAH.
