WHEW.
Oh holy crap, the fule tale of Traci's wedding is going to be amazing, I can already tell. The rehearsal dinner was pretty friggin' awesome, all by itself. It's kinna long, but it's SO SO WORTH IT.
Okay, so my friend Traci (the girl getting married) has a sister named Crystan. Crystan is in the army, and is currently stationed in Iraq. :( She's been trying to get home this whole time, but thus far she hasn't managed it. Anyway, about a week or two ago, Puddle of Mudd came out to Iraq to play for the troops, coz they are neat alterna-rockers like that. And Crystan was their contact, etc. while they were there. She looked out for them, guarded them, got them where they needed to go, all that good stuff. And so they became very friendly with her, and she ended up telling them all about her sister's wedding that she couldn't go to, which they though sucked. So they're all, "Where are you from, anyway?" "Dayton, Ohio." "Oh, hey! We're gonna be playing there soon! How about...if we get your sister, her fiance, your brother, and his girlfriend, front row tickets and backstage passes to X-fest?" Crystan: SQUEEEEEEEE!!!
So Traci, Andy (fiance), Mike (brother), and Mike's girlfriend watched Puddle of Mudd play at X-fest from the soundboard, and went backstage and hung out with the band at X-fest. They got to go on the tour bus, and everything. Apparently they are really nice, really COOL guys. So that was totally awesome.
So we all went to Sake, this excellent Japanese food restuarant, for the wedding rehearsal dinner. (The rehearsal itself is actually TODAY, and there's a reason, but I'm not gonna get into it right now. Ehehehe.) And since Crystan wasn't gonna be able to make the wedding OR the dinner or anything else, here's what was done: Doris and Casey, two friends of Andy's and Traci's, took a picture of Krystan holding a "bouquet" of roses in her BDU's, blew it up huge, and pasted it on a cardboard cut-out. It actually looked REALLY good, even if we were all sad that we couldn't have the real thing.
So this guy from the Dayton Daily News, Dale Huffman, shows up at the restuarant for pictures and interviews. Apparently one of Traci's mom's friends had called to tell him all about this, and Traci's mom knew he was coming. So he comes inside....we all sit down, make ready to eat....
And he gets up, gets the whole restaurant's attention, and says calmly, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm Dale Huffman from the Dayton Daily News, and I'm here to introduce a very special guest who's come a very long way to join us tonight..." AND IN WALKS CRYSTAN, IN HER FRIGGIN' BDU'S AND EVERYTHING. AUUUGH!! Yeah, all us nerdly bridesmaids teared up. Eeeee! One of the men in her squadron had heard that she'd be missing her sister's wedding, and had said she could take HIS leave and that he'd go home in December. Traci's mom knew, and had been keeping it a secret, but it was still a last-minute oh-holy-crap sort of thing.<3 <3 <3!
Aaaaaaaand I need to go shower and it's really long, anyway, so I'll finish later. So I can tell you all about the bridesmaid's PIRATE KNIVES. *dies*
