Overheard at Wincon (actually, most of these are not original thoughts. They're paraphrased from what people smarter and more clever than me said) (but not Shakespeare. I'm more clever than him, and that guy knows what's up.):
When someone threatens Sam, Dean is like, "Oh, no, I'll do anything, don't hurt him!" And when someone threatens Dean, Sam just goes "I will fuck your shit up."
Because Sam is just as desperately, psychotically codependent for Dean as Dean is for Sam. In different ways, definitely, but it is there. There seems to be this idea that because Dean is desperate and needy that he is the one who is 'more committed in the relationship'. But, no. Sam doesn't get needy, he doesn't beg. He just goes apeshit. You can argue that Sam left for Stanford, that he goes to California in Scarecrow, but honestly, does he ever really mean it? Standford happened in direct defiance of John (Which, in my personal canon, happened because of the way John treated Dean. When you look at most of the fights John and Sam had, it was because John was being a douche nozzle to Dean.) as opposed to Sam leaving Dean. And the minute Dean called, Sam came running. Sam is proud as fuck, but as soon as it's acceptable for him to come back, he does, no question. When Dean dies, and goes to hell, Sam starts drinking demon blood, he uses evil yellow eyes power, all to get revenge for what happened to Dean. In the end, it's Dean's love (I'm here, Sammy, I'm not gonna leave you...) that gives Sam the strength to defeat the devil and save the motherfucking WORLD. It is the one thing that Sam knows, that he can count on in this world, is that Dean is 100% always there for him. He's said, more than once, "Don't you say that to me, not you." He can take almost anything from anyone else, but the one thing that always breaks him is Dean being gone, or Dean turning his back on him. When he was detoxing from demon blood, the one thing that killed him was thinking that Dean didn't care. These boys are it for each other, that's all there is to say about it. It's not Dean having nothing but Sam, and Sam living a life. Remember Mystery Spot? Sam becomes a motherfucking ROBOT, completely represses everything, can't even function without Dean.
In the latest episode, Dean said it all:
"What's more important than Sam?"
And if gives the chance, Sam would say the exact same thing.
This show, our show, Supernatural, is built on a bond between these two brothers. I, obvs, believe in Wincest, for reasons that I could spend HOURS talking about. Instead I am going to do everyone a solid, and picspam their epic love.

( This thing we have between us, love, family, whatever...Collapse )
