i went to the filipino christmas ball and watched melani and kevin perform traditional dances, which was wonderful. my dress was lovely and, by request of
avoteforla, there will be pictures in a bit. the ball was also lovely, save for a table of girls and guys who were talking about me. motions were made at my chest (what? it was a low-cut v-neck) which upset me a little bit, but everyone at my table agreed that the girls were just jealous and the guys just wanted them. i'll let you decide when the pictures go up later.
also, a night with
missmary, sean,
shatterglass,
stuckinpa64, and a bunch of other CASA people. if i have anything to say about it, sean will become a permanent fixture in my life.
in talking about
missmary's list of hot people and, specifically, eva green:
sam: she's not hot because she was sleeping with her brother (in the dreamers).
sean: but they were french! so it's okay!
i've fallen even more in love with LUSH. today, i realised that one of their bath bombs, called waving not drowning, is probably based on that one poem everyone mentioned OR the manic street preachers song ready for drowning. which is one of my favourites. either way, i was reminded of the manics. so! in light of that revelation, short MUSIC POST!
roses in the hospital -- manic street preachers. not the song that inspired the post, but my favourite. early nineties rock band, in which played the ever-lovely richey edwards.
toxic -- tristan prettyman. a sweet, acoustic cover of the britney spears song. i've been listening to it on repeat, because it's lovelier than the (help me, but it's true) catchy original.
raphaël -- carla bruni. i only have two of her songs, but her voice is intoxicating. she sings in french and i'll be damned if i can understand even half of it, but i'm still trying.
you and i -- john hill, michael arden. this song is crack. it's from the musical bare. i know that a lot of you have heard it, but for those who haven't, it's a must-listen, if only for the humour. two catholic school boys singing to each other.
dover, delaware -- the duhks. one of the sleepier songs on the CD. it's my rainy day, relaxing, de-stressing song. it gets me every time. the harmonies are a little bit awkward but perfect, at the same time.
