you love me, and i am euphemistically yours.

on my trip to massachusetts, i bought a book of Youth Speaks poets' poetry and, though i didn't know it when i bought it, it came with a cd.

these were recorded at the Youth Speaks slam poetry finals of the 2000 competition.

miss america -- sailor jay. you and your equality painted me white in southwest michigan, and my brother black in northeast harlem, and laid us down and told us to stay. ani difranco-esque, outspoken.

spiritual warfare -- eddie monroe. and then the lord revealed to me that my destiny was to fight. he said it was warfare, spiritual warfare, spiritual warfare for me. he sings/raps it, and though he's kind of hard to understand, sometimes, i like it. powerful and loud.

to sir, with smirks -- rafi. and i know what you're thinking, when thoughts and distractions, but you didn't raise me to be queer, and you definitely don't want me dressed like a dyke. but! but you can't say it that way, so you say flamboyant. more softspoken, humble, powerful.
