{"id":112782,"date":"2023-12-14T16:44:47","date_gmt":"2023-12-14T21:44:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/feastdesignco.com\/?page_id=112782"},"modified":"2026-02-19T16:08:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T21:08:10","slug":"feast-design-and-setup","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/feastdesignco.com\/feast-plus-members\/feast-design-and-setup\/","title":{"rendered":"General Notes (Feast+)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Answers to how and why certain elements are set up.<\/p>\n\n\n[feast_advanced_jump_to]\n\n\n<h2 id=\"contrast\"   class=\"wp-block-heading\" >Contrast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We use a formula to determine the largest contrast between any given color - whether primary, accent or background - and white or black. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If white provides more of a contrast, it's used as the text and hyperlink color <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If black provides more of a contrast, it's used as the text and hyperlink color<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This uses the same formula as services like <a href=\"https:\/\/wave.webaim.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wave.webaim.org<\/a>, which saves you from having to check it yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"hyperlinks-on-feature-styles\"   class=\"wp-block-heading\" >Hyperlinks on feature styles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In cases where your feature style (and Advanced Jump To) has a background that would not be accessibility compliant with your hyperlink color, we automatically override the hyperlink color with the appropriate white or black contrast (see above).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"table-of-contents\"   class=\"wp-block-heading\" >Table of Contents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The table of contents automatically has the background and accessibility-compliant foreground color applied to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Underlines are removed from the table of contents because the expected behavior is that the entire contents are clickable\/links, which means that the text does not need to stand out from the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"pagespeed\"   class=\"wp-block-heading\" >Pagespeed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pagespeed is a cumulative effect of many, many different things on your page. Any one individual issue isn't a problem, but compounding each one can lead to failing pagespeed scores and CWV (Core Web Vitals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may be barely passing CWV before setting up Feast+, and start to fail after implementing it. This is because the compounding affect of: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>javascript<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ads<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DOM nodes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>poor server speed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>incorrect caching<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>user location<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>user device<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>image optimization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And on top of that, making your website more visually appealing with styling can push a page over the threshold from passing to failing. But the styling alone isn't the cause of the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Very often<\/strong> you need to go and re-visit all of the issues listed above and tweak, optimize and remove things in order to once again pass CWV.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Answers to how and why certain elements are set up.
