Indigenous Method

Honouring Ceremony, Wisdom & Process In Research
At the Feast Centre, Indigenous method is more than a research strategy – it’s a sacred way of being. Grounded in ceremony, guided by Elders, and rooted in spiritual and relational integrity, this approach places equal value on process, connection, and cultural practice.
Through our integration of Indigenous ceremony in all activities, the Centre honours sacred traditions and ensures that research reflects and respects Indigenous ways of knowing.

Ceremony As Method
Every gathering, project, and collaboration at the Feast Centre is infused with the principles of Indigenous ceremony.
We honour spiritual practice not as a symbolic gesture, but as an integral part of how knowledge is generated, shared, and transformed.
Holistic Research Values
The Indigenous method values the full arc of the research journey – from relationships and reciprocity, to knowledge creation and impact.
It resists the fragmentation of Western research paradigms and centres connection and care as key outcomes.
Wisdom Of Elders
Our work is guided by the voices of Elders who bring intergenerational knowledge, spiritual insight, and cultural teachings.
Their presence ensures that every research decision is grounded in community, ceremony, and respect.
National Partnerships In Practice
In collaboration with CAAN (Communities, Alliances & Networks), the Feast Centre supports the Wise Practices conference – a national gathering dedicated to Indigenous public health.
This event brings together researchers, Knowledge Keepers, and community members in a space guided by ceremony, relational accountability, and shared learning.
