*rubs eyes*
Working all day today. Only four and a half hours to go. Hurrah.
Anyhow, while I was eating my lunch, I was reading the paper and I noticed how many articles there are about the drought the red land of Oz is in. I mean, it sucks for all of us, but the farmers are really doing it tough.
It's supposed to be a one in one hundred year drought. Apparently they're predicting this shit to go on for another ten years.
For instance, I was reading about this woman and her family who live on a 1600 acre farm; cattle, sheep, the whole bit, but nothing's growing and no one's buying. Basically, her husband goes out early in the morning, comes back at night and hasn't earned a thing. The only way she can keep the family going is to teach at unis from 50 to 60 hours a week.
There's this other guy who's son is six years old. This kid has seen rain only once in his life. The other weird thing is that this kid said he'd never want to farm the land when he grows up, which is rare for a country kid.
Like I said before, the drought is tough for all of us.....It can rain for days at a time, but it never fills the dams. Water restrictions are getting tighter all the time, and in fact, in some places, they can't use any water outdoors (watering yards, gardening, pool filling, car washing, etc) at all. And it's only spring and we've had the first house-destroying fires of the season. Let's not forget how freaking hot it's getting.....
I don't mean to whinge, lol, I love my country, don't get me wrong, but geez. Enough is enough. Let it rain already....Though knowing Australia, it'll flood terribly, lol.
So.....I'm done. Tired, I have a papercut on my knuckle which hurts like all hell and the phone won't shut the hell up for thirty seconds....*sighs*.
At least I'm getting my shoes tonight.
P.S. And don't get me started on petrol prices!!!!
