Deathly Hallows, biatches. Tried to avoid spoilers!
Hullo, poppets :)
Just got back from mi padre's after spending the night and heading out with Maddie and a stupid number of her friends (nine other sixteen year olds) to watch HP Deathly Hallows at the IMAX. Before I get into the Pottergasm, I have one thing to say...Sixteen year old girls are - often - perfectly fine one-on-one, but en masse they are disgusting, rude and obnoxious. I generally adore my step-sister, but if any of my friends spoke to me the way she spoke to some of her friends today, they would no longer be my friends. I'm irritated by that and by the attitudes of some of these other kids...A lot of them were perfectly nice and polite, but some of them couldn't be bothered to show up on time so we missed our original train, couldn't be arsed to sit with everyone else - even when asked to - and then didn't have the slightest interest in following simple requests or (politely) answering ordinary questions. Surely this is God's way of proving to me that when I was sixteen, the sun most certainly did not shine out of my arse. I formally apologise to the universe for my pubescent attitude when I was a teenager...Just because you're hormonal doesn't give you the right to be a downright cunt to people.
Alright. Now that I've dropped the C-bomb, we can move on.
HP7 (part 1) kicked arse. It started great, the middle bits were great and it ended in a good bit too...I'd tell you where, but that would be a spoiler, lol...Surely you all have read the book so you know what happens, but if you haven't seen the movie yet, then suffice it to say that it ends in a kind of weird spot. Now...Favourite bits...Dobby and Kreacher working together to tackle Mundungus Fletcher (Kreacher kept poking him with a fork and Dobby wore sneakers), a bit early on where all the people who were involved in getting HP to the Burrow took Polyjuice Potion and turned into him (hilarious, but then sad). Um...Ooh, the bit where Ron has to get rid of a horcrux and all this wicked-badness escaped and tried to turn Ron against HP and Hermione (scary), and my absolute favourite bits all involved the goings on at Malfoy Manor...Bellatrix attacking and torturing Hermione (I could hear slashers ticking over, lol), and Snape's minor involvements at the Manor and talking with Voldemort. Lol, the Malfoys don't stand up well to pressure...Daddy Malfoy doesn't do drawn and scared very well (still pretty, in his way, lol). Bella was bat shit crazy as always....Practically throwing herself at Voldemort. The other thing that really caught my attention, too, was the way the dudes who were enforcing appropriate use of magic (by appropriate people) were dressed. I always knew they were based on Nazis and that the Mudblood/Pureblood division was based on Jews/Non-Jews, natch, but to see it right out there in colour and on IMAX, red armbands and all, was....I don't know...It floored me, I guess. The other thing is how they had Ministers producing anti-Muggle "literature" and how much it reminded me of the books Hitler had published for German school children, "The Eternal Jew," and all that garbage. Scary stuff.
I can't complain at all about the movie. I thought it was great. There were some moments that were a bit teary, and were I not in the company of my siblings and cohorts, I probably would have cried...Dobby's death being a key moment. Poor little elf. I can't wait until the next installment and I'm super pleased that it'll be out in about six months or so, rather than the full year that they usually make us wait. Judging by where HP7 pt. 1 ended, pt. 2 is going to be the longest HP movie and it'll be the most action-packed one, too. They've got quite a ways to go before the Final Battle and I understand that said battle is going to be done and drawn out as it is in the book. Hurrah. I'm sure I will cry in that one...The whole way through. Can not wait.
So, now that that's all done, I'm going to have a lay down. It's been a long day - late night, early morning, stupid children, great movie - and I'm exhausted....Urgh. Big love, all, and tell me what you thought about HP7 if you've seen it xoxo
