Writer's Block: Time for a reboot
Which phrase would you choose to replace the ubiquitous "Have a nice day" phrase?
A nice, "Don't get mugged," is always effective. It shows you care ;)
So, all, my exams are over. Dead, gone, finito. Hurrah. I had my last exam (English) yesterday...A Saturday...Blah. I think it went OK, I mean there was a thing about clauses that I had some problems with and I missed one part of a question about...Um...The differences between Early Modern English and Present Day English or something like that. But, all in all, it wasn't terrible and I'm sure that I didn't fail it, so that's really all that matters.
I had my other exams last week and, well, they didn't go that well, really. Which sucks balls. JCTC was first and went fine, thankfully. History managed to both suck and blow - two essays and I couldn't formulate my thoughts well enough for either one of them and it will be a small miracle if I pass. And Linguistics went mostly OK until we got to the last section which was all about graphs and data analysis...I possibly haven't mentioned this before, but graphs and I don't get along terribly well. Graphs and maps are things I have problems with - can't read either one of them. So that was kind of a downer, you know? But it's all over and that's dandy.
Last night, in the disgusting heat (40C, about 104F) my brother, mother and I got all dressed up in our fanciest black and white clothing and headed out to a family friend's black and white party. We all looked pretty good, I think, but Ben stole the show; he was wearing his black suit pants, black shirt and a black Boston Red Sox cap with white tie, white braces and white Nike Airs. Very flash. We drank, we danced (which I don't do unless I'm drunk) and we hung out with people we grew up with...It was great fun - heat not withstanding. Been a long time since I've been to a party, and even longer since I've been to a party I enjoyed. Kiera, the birthday girl, turned 18 - how time flies, I remember when she was a baby - and has just finished her HSC and she's a very smart cookie. She's managed to get early entrance into Wollongong uni and is waiting to hear about getting into a degree that can has a great chance of getting her in to work with ASIO, or the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation...This is a kid who could rule the world. And she deserves it too, she managed to pull through Anorexia, which was scary, and get back to full and radiant health. I'm glad things are working out for her now.
So yeah, that's about that. Uni is now finished for me. I'm a third of the way through my degree (eep) and don't go back until, like, March. I guess the grand plan is to find some seasonal work at Toys R Us or Myers or David Jones or something...Who knows? I'm just happy to be through with the exams and everything else is manageable.
Fuck, it's so hot!!!!!
