It's done...Sort of...

So, boys and girls, I finished my English essay today. It's shit, makes barely any sense and there might not even be an argument in it...And it's about 300 words short, lol...But I couldn't milk any more out of it and I got sick of trying. It's as done as it's going to get and I have to make my peace with that. Stupid fucking thing. I am a little irritated with myself that yet again I couldn't get my shit together enough to do it right this time...I should have started it earlier and considered the question more carefully, but I didn't...And I just have to deal with it now. Stupid.

Anyway.

I'm still house sitting and things are going well. I'm really enjoying being on my own, uni work not withstanding, and I've been feeding myself...Obviously...and generally taking decent care of myself, the house and the animals. Still have two dogs and cats, but I'm not so sure about the fish. There were five when I was here last time and two when I got here a couple of weeks ago, but I went out there the day before last to feed them and I couldn't see ay fish...Perhaps they were hiding or perhaps they were eaten by either a cat or a bird...Really, what control do I have over the well being of fish?

That reminds me....I forgot to tell you about Ratgate 2010. Last Saturday night I was watching Most Haunted, as you do, and I spied something move on the floor under the table that the TV sits on, which freaked me right the fuck out. I mean, watching a show about ghosts and then seeing things move out of the corner of your eye is a recipe for a heart-attack...Which I very nearly had when I saw the thing properly...It was a rather large rat. Now, I used to keep rats as pets and am not afraid of them. I don't have a problem with snakes or spiders or anything like that, but wild rats are a whole other deal, I think. So the dogs notice it and start going apeshit which attracts the cat's attention, for which I was grateful. I had hoped that all the commotion would freak the rat out and they'd be able to deal with it. Not so much. The rat bolted down the hallway and the dogs and cat followed it into one of the rooms. at which point I shut the bedroom door so it wouldn't go in, which seemed a pretty reasonable thing to do, I think. So I checked out the room the dogs were going ballistic in (the cat had lost interest by this time, lol) and I couldn't find the rat anywhere. I checked the other rooms and couldn't see it there either, so I figured that it was hiding someplace out of fear of the dogs...Which turns out to be pretty accurate. I went into the bedroom, followed by the dogs, and had a little look around, just in case, and there, perfectly camouflaged on a chair full of throw pillows, was the rat. It was sitting on a brown, furry cushion and was almost totally blended in. The little fucker. So I knocked it off the chair - as you do - and it piss-bolted behind the heaviest piece of furniture it could find, which was the dresser. Which I had to move. After that the rat bolted into the study and hid under the desk. So I got the dogs out, put a towel under the door and decided to leave it for the following day because after all this excitement it was about 2 in the morning, lol.

So I check the study the next morning and the rat wasn't where I had left it the previous night and I couldn't find it anywhere. I'd thought - reasonably - that there was a hole somewhere that the rat escaped through and that it was all over, so I went and hung out in the lounge room and worked on my uni work. I was there for about five minutes when one of the dogs went into the study and, without any noise or fuss, walked out with this big ass rat in her mouth and took it outside. I kind of wish I'd taken a picture of it to prove how big it was to my brother -- he keeps trying to tell me that it was probably only a mouse. Jerkface.

All of that hassle for nothing, really. Problem solved, lol.

So yeah, essay done, presentation mostly finished (all the notes are there) and the Linguistics assignment is the only thing that's going to give me trouble, lol, so I'll try to get some help from someone who finished it tomorrow :P
