Writer's Block: If I were president ...

What would you do if you were president or prime minister for a day?

I'd make a decision regarding my country's government...Although I guess that'd be pretty obvious, what with my being PM and all, lol.

Last weekend all Australians were called to vote and there's been a big ass deal about the whole thing. I watched the votes being counted on the Saturday and it was split pretty much right down the middle, leaving Australia with its first hung parliament since WWII - probably something I'll never see again. The Labor (yay!) and Liberal (boo!) parties were due to talk with the Independents through the past week to see who can get more of the Indie seats on side because the more seats they get, the further they'll be ahead and we'd be able to end this madness, but, no. No result yet. I'm beginning to think there'll be some kind of other vote to work it all out, lol.

Not much is going on with me right now. I'm focussed more or less on my uni work which is starting to really pile up (like, really) and I have some essay due dates that are fast approaching. Urgh. I'm sure I'll be able to work it all out, but I really don't like the pressure.

More pressing than any work I have to do for university is the situation at home...My mother and Snappy are getting married - which I think I've mentioned before - next Saturday. Everyone's been pretty ratty lately trying to get it all ready and trying to get themselves ready. I myself have cut out sugar and most crappy food from my diet and have managed over the last three weeks or so to drop about six kilograms (a little over 15 pounds)...I thought it was going to be more difficult, but really the biggest change was the sugar and the weight just fell off. So, when I checked last weekend or so my suit fit pretty well, which was great because I didn't want to have to buy a whole new suit just for this wretched wedding...Now I have to make sure that I don't lost any more weight over the next week so I won't have to hold my pants up, lol. All of the arrangements (venue, guests, readings, etc) are pretty much finalised, the last thing to deal with is my mother's last minute panic over the vows and cold feet, lol. I for one (and my brother, for two) will be very, very pleased when this whole thing is over...It's like my mum's trip to Egypt earlier in the year - good for you, but enough is enough.

So yeah. A week to go. It couldn't be any more hectic.

Hoping you all are well :)
