Slightly rambly....My bad.

So, chickadees (I think I'm running out of names for you all :P) today I made an appointment to see Stan, my Optometrist, because I really - really! - need new glasses. My usual appointment isn't until August, lol, but I don't think I'll make it. I have headaches a lot, but lately the headaches are worst behind my eyes and I can actually feel my eyes straining to focus even when I have my glasses on. I think the transition from work to university hasn't helped - while I was working I didn't really need to look at anything that wasn't close up, you know? And now, having to constantly switch between looking at whiteboards and Power Points and my notes has just taken its toll. Stupid eyes. And as stupid as my stupid eyes are (and they are!), I really like wearing glasses...I mean, not the ones I have now - I hated them about two weeks after I got them, lol...They make my face look more, I don't know, interesting, I guess; they kind of break up the weirdness that is my face, lol. Lots of people have suggested that I give contacts a shot but I can't bring myself to go there. I think I look strange without my glasses now and I can't deal with the idea of touching my freakin' eyeball!! Eurgh. Huh. Way too much info about my eyewear. Anyways, I have an appointment at 5:30 tomorrow afternoon/evening/night and that should get that out of the way. Hurrah for new glasses!!!

It's my second last week of my uni holiday and I'm kind of grateful. And kind of not, lol. I mean, I dig uni - I like being there everyday, I like the lectures and learning new stuff and all that, but I hate the essays and the boredom, lol. I'm hoping that this semester I'll be able to get a better handle on the essay thing...Or more the referencing thing, I guess. Anyway, I checked my exam results the other day and *bazzinga!* I passed everything. I even passed Philosophy, which means that my exam must not have sucked anywhere near as badly as I thought it did (yay!). I didn't do so well in English, which is a real downer because that's the subject that I've always had a pretty good grip on, you know? But I think that's the one I let slide the most, so I guess fair's fair. Anyway, the results are as follows - they're all percentages out of a hundred and none of them are all that flash...Remember, it was my first semester ;) :
  • LNGS1001 Structure of Language = 64
  • JCTC1001 Palestine: Roman Rule to Islam = 62
  • PHIL1011 Reality, Ethics and Beauty = 56
  • ENGL1008 Australian Texts: International Contexts = 51
So that's that. I'm not altogether pleased with my marks, but that's what happens when you rush your essays and don't manage your time very well. And don't study as much as you should (perhaps). But like I said, first semester. I think I've got the picture a bit better now, lol, and I think I understand what they want better. Maybe.

What else? I'm currently reading The World According to Garp by John Irving which I bought yesterday. I saw the movie version with Robin Williams in it a bajillion years ago (I think it had John Lithgow as the transexual football player) which I loved and it just stuck in my head....So I saw it yesterday when my mum and I went to Newtown for lunch and couldn't bring myself to pass it up. I also had the same problem with the first two issues of the BtVS Season 8 comic series...Sure I should be saving my money and all that, lol, but I'm on a bit of a comic book jag right now and couldn't let them go :P So far, so good, actually. I really want to get the rest of the series now - the art's good, the scripting is good...Dawn is a giant, lol. Gotta be happy with that, I think.

Uhmmm....So yeah. For now that's that. Tomorrow I have my Optometrist's appointment and on Friday I'm supposed to be hanging out with Nimao and chasing the green dragon for a while (better than the strange dragon I seem to be chasing now, though I think that's for another post), but I haven't heard back from her yet, so we'll see. I was supposed to be doing lunch/coffee with some high school friends of mine, but - yet again - it's had to be postponed...That usually annoys me, but right now I don't really care. Then I have my last week off (egads!) and next Saturday I'll be kidnapping my biggest little sister, Maddie, and taking her up to the uni again to show her around more, which will be cool considering we won't get lost this time :P

Hope you all are being good out there xox
