Gainfully unemployed and officially enrolled.
So, poppets, I know it's been forever (six days, really) since I've updated, but life has - and it's my usual excuse, I know - a way of getting away from one.
I finished work yesterday. What a teary departure, as you can imagine, lol. And I could not get over the freedom. I'm still having trouble with the fact that I won't have to get up on Monday morning and put on that damned uniform and go to work in a hardware store. Sure, I might be having trouble with that notion, but it also makes me absolutely blissfully chipper.
I gathered my bits of paper and my mother and went to do the official enrolling thing today up at the uni. It wasn't as complex as I had thought it would be; there were people all over the shop to help you out and to make sure that you filled everything out correctly and whatnot. I joined a queue and I got a bunch of forms to fill in (it didn't take that long because I'd already chosen my subjects and units), which I dutifully did, and then I joined another queue to get my HECS-HELP (government funding) dealt with, and then I joined another queue (you seeing a theme here?) to get all of my details data entered by some poor schmo who might or might not have been forced into volunteering for the job.
From there - egads - I went to another building (I totally forgot to take my camera, by the way) to organise my travel concession and my student card, for which I had my picture taken. Which is always kind of awful because you know that you're going to look like a total freak. Or at least I do in every example of photo ID I have.
So, that's that. I'm officially enrolled and someone as far at the university is considered. I've got O-Week (orientation) to go to late next month (O-Week, by the way, is only about three days long. Go Fig) and then lectures start March first, I think. So it's all rushing along splendidly and I can stop worrying about the whole procedure.
We went and had lunch afterwards, which was cool, and then we went to Officeworks (great big shop full of stationery. Bliss) where I bought some supplies. Pens, folders, paper and so forth. Not an important detail, lol, but it's what I got.
So, kids, that's that for right now. I'm out of work, but I have somewhere to go and some plans, so I'm not worried about that and everything worked out OK at enrollment, so that's cool too. Also, I got some lovely green stuff from my friend Sen yesterday and that's pretty sweet, lol - it'll keep me occupied for a month.
Hope you've all been keeping well over these last six days xx
