Entry 998.
So, today is Sunday. Two more weeks until Christmas, or thereabouts, and tomorrow I - like everyone else with a stupid, stupid job - go back to work. And I'm super thrilled about that, let me tell you.
Went out yesterday to the city to check out a few things. I spent almost $40 at Sugar Fix (yes, I desperately needed 400g of Jelly Bellys...In my favourite flavours...That was the killer, really), I spent about $240 at Dymocks where I bought a Post Secret book and Haunted Heart: The Life And Times Of Stephen King and three Dymocks vouchers (Dr. K, consider it a combined Chrissie/birthday gift. Heh, I'm so tight).
I also went and saw Where The Wild Things Are and fell head over feet for it. Spike Jonze should be very proud of himself. Max (who was absolutely gorgeous, by the way) was taken really seriously, both as a character and as the theme of 'the child', without losing any humour. It was cool to see something like that, a kid's loneliness and desperation, up close without it being overly dramatic or not being taken seriously. And I loved the monsters...Well, wild things, really. They were hilarious (especially Douglas' stick arm at the end) and personable, but you can see that it doesn't matter how funny or nice they might be, they're huge and those teeth can do some serious damage. You know, Maurice Sendak (the genius who wrote and illustrated the original book) based the Wild Things on his relatives - they were Eastern European Jews who would always crowd him and talk to him in a language he couldn't understand while pinching his cheeks...And it was funny, because you got a sense of that sort of cloistered, over powered feeling in certain scenes in the movie. ("Be Still!!")
Anyway. It was good. See it.
Uh...Not much else to say, really. I'm going back through my store of fics and dealing with all of the ones that aren't finished...Might be a while yet, lol, because I'm world renowned for not finishing things, but I'll get there. I think there are a few Draco/Lucius fics to do, a House fic or two and a Jooster fic. That I can think of off the top of my head. Who knows, there might also be a Stugh fic up in there as well...It's a lucky dip, really.
Checked my LJ stats a few minutes ago and this is entry 998. One thousand here I come!
