What-ho, all :)

Not much going on at the mo', sadly, just a quickie to let you all know I'm still alive. And by "quickie", well, you know what I mean, lol.

I started watching Crash today and was haunted by the odd feeling that I'd seen it before. It took forever and a day for me to realise that I actually have seen it before, though I don't recall how it ends exactly, so I'll have to watch it all the way through. I hate it when that happens...You realise that it's not actually deja vu, you've seen it before. Then there's the tiny feeling of disappointment to contend with.

Amusing news - well, not really - from the world my family occupies. My father was helping my uncle load his truck and finish getting ready to move to Western Australia (he's moving there to start up a relationship with his estranged sons and to help him deal with his asthma. Being away from the city should help, but it's WA for fuck's sake!!) and my dad misjudged the height of the truck or something, even though he was going up and down from it the entire afternoon, and slipped and broke his wrist. More technically, if you'll allow me to display my awful anatomical knowledge, you know those two knobbly bits - the end of your forearm bones - at the wrist? Yeah, he snapped them off the forearm bones...The radius and ulna or whatever they're called. So he went in for surgery yesterday morning and all is fine, but I can't wait to see him...He's going to cop such a drubbing for this, lol, but I'm glad he's OK and that he didn't very seriously hurt himself. Moron.

Tomorrow I'm going into the city with my mum because I'm still on holidays and she has a day off work. I was going to go into town today, but it was raining and cold. And when one doesn't drive, it makes for a rather long day - especially if it's raining. So, the main attraction, sadly, is having a bagel for lunch (because I couldn't stop thinking about it today, lol), and around that will be a trip to JB Hi-Fi to find a copy of The Rabbit-Proof Fence and The Woodsman, if I can find it. Then onto Sugar Fix to find dad a get well soon pressie...I'm thinking Dr. Pepper, because he likes it...And also to find myself something interesting. I'm thinking flying saucers or something nice.

There was something else I wanted to get tomorrow, too...But naturally I can't for the life of me remember what that was. Damn it.

Thursday will be dedicated to my second holiday moviegoing experience and I'm thinking that Orphan might be a goodie. I was thinking about that Sam Raimi movie, and I still might see that one, but Orphan looks pretty good. Thus far it's the battle of the trailers.

Speaking of movies, last week I saw Coraline and I implore you all to go see it. It has a similar style that Henry Selik used in A Nightmare Before Christmas, but there was a real tangibility to this movie that the former lacked (though I love Nightmare, don't get me wrong). Just the textures and the tissue-lightness of the major garden scene and the thick drifts of snow...Ugh, so amazing. I can't wait to get it on DVD.

Anywho, moving along. I'm not looking forward to going back to work at all...I mean, I don't return 'til monday, but still. It's looming and I'm sad.

Ner-night, all xoxo
