Happy Birthday, Angelina...
Today is Angelina Jolie's birthday.
That is all.
Did I fool you? Nah, it's not really all. There's not much else, lol, but it's not all.
June is my birth month, too. June 17th...Which makes me a Gemini. I can hear you all groaning now - we (Geminis) just aren't that bad. Man up.
It's the delightful Mr. Laurie's birthday this month too - the 11th, I think....Hm. Might have to check that.
You know, June really is a good month and not solely because it contains my day of dotage. I have to say, I'm not that excited about this birthday....21. Ick. It's not that big a deal here in Oz...I know in the States you're all grown up and stuff when you turn twenty-one, but here it's just another notch on the belt. At eighteen you can buy booze and cigarettes, go to pubs and clubs, get married, sign legal contracts and join the military...But not all on the same day, I should hope.
The other good thing about June? The Queen's Birthday long weekend. I have to say, the first half of the year is loaded with public holidays, lol...ANZAC Day, Australia Day, Easter etc. For those who don't know, the Queen's Birthday holiday is pretty funny - the current monarch's birthday is not in June. Her birthday is April 21st (which is, interestingly enough, Iggy Pop's birthday, lol).
A lot of Aussies want to become a republic (not for it), but still want to have the Queen's Birthday holiday...Which doesn't make much sense (about as much as having the Queen's birthday in June rather than April, I suppose), but it says a lot about this lovely country of mine, lol.
Hm...Oh, it's Prince William's birthday this month, too - the 21st. Three cheers for the man who will be King. I hope. Ideally, Prince Charles will either abdicate or die early and Wills will take the throne and Harry can just potter about according to plan, lol. I'm not a fan of Prince Charles (though, to his credit, he did the right thing at Diana's funeral) and would hate to have him as the monarch...In fact, that's a fairly common thought - I'll bet he doesn't know that, lol.
And I've just revealed myself to be a monarchist. Meh, I suppose I could be worse things....A Liberal voter, lol!!
Anywho, that's me...I actually was going to go somewhere with this birthday thing, but I lost my train of thought.
When's your birthday and what star sign are you??
P.S. So there's no confusion to those who aren't familiar with the Australian government, the Liberal Party is not liberal - they're akin to the Republicans.
That is all.
