Lucky me.

Woke up this morning to my alarm heralding the day...And I had almost no voice. Hard to serve people, as I believe I've said in a previous entry, when you can't talk to them. I called work, said I won't be in today either, but will go to the doctor's and call back later.

So, up I got, caught me the bus, caught me the 9am train to Panania (the next suburb over) and trotted to the medical centre...Which was full of sick people and I'd have to wait about an hour and a half to two hours to see a doctor. So, I went to Revesby (the next suburb over from that) to the medical centre there and had to wait about an hour to see a doctor...Six of one, really.

Any way, doctor was nice, "you don't sound very well". Gleaming wit. "Nope, I'm sick". Chatted, he ran his little tests (say "ah", temperature, stethoscope etc) and he asked, "have you been taking anything for this?" I told him that I'd been taking some cold/flu stuff and he asked me if they were doing the job, to which I replied a resounding  "no". He laughed and said, "it's no small wonder". Que? They weren't working because I don't have the flu. I have bronchitis. Hurrah. He also mentioned that my lungs were crackling slightly, which is symptomatic of bronchitis, but if it didn't clear up, then I should go back - it could be pneumonia...I told him that was unlikely. I've had pneumonia before and I'm sure that this isn't it.

Also made the bold suggestion that I stop smoking since tobacco smoke (amongst other things) causes bronchitis. Laringitis, too, apparently, which was what I had when I lost my voice for three days last year. Am I thinking about it? Yep. Will I? Probably not.

I've got amoxycillin (which I have to take again in a minute, as it happens)  and another day off work for tomorrow. Woo! And a medical certificate so I don't get in trouble.

See? You think about taking a greedy day off work, go into the doctor's and it turns out, you're actually sick. What are the odds?
