Went up to the uni today and actually got my stuff done. Well, I got the vast majority of the draft for my essay done. I worked for a little over three hours straight on it in silence (as is customary in a library) and deep concentration (which is unusual for me). I feel satisfied, unafraid (as I usually am when it comes to academic writing) and rather tired.

Fortunately, the sustained focus was fuelled by having breakfasted heartily. A Newtown big breakfast sans eggs. God, I hate eggs.

I rewarded myself for my efforts today with some new books. Three, in fact (a book per hour, lol). All Penguin editions (can't say no to a book that costs $9.95): Usage & Abusage by Eric Partridge, a linguistic reference on the correct usage of the English language. One can't do without a text like that. I also got How Language Works by David Crystal, yet another linguistics text...I suppose you never can have too many, lol. It's good thus far, mind I'm only 51 pages in, so that could change at any second. Lastly, for a nice slice of fiction, My Family And Other Animals by Gerald Durrell.

It's funny, I used to shun Penguin books because they were cheap. I mean, what book worth three-fifths of fuck-all is worth having? Let me tell you, Penguins are the books worth having. They're inexpensive, they're uniform looking (I don't like the colour orange, but one Penguin after another sitting on a shelf is an attractive sight) and, lord forbid anything should happen to them, easily replaceable.

Just got through watching Kinky Boots. I'd forgotten how much I love that movie - it's sad, but I'm awfully attached to it. It sets off this thing inside me...A pang, I suppose. Immense cheer, but an odd type of sadness, too. I think that comes from being able to relate to Lola (the main character, if you've not seen it) on some level or another...Living an entire life in that no-man's (no-person's) land between the genders. Between black and white, and then white and grey, lol. Living a life where - less and less often, thankfully - one is looked at or talked about for some reason beyond one's control. Usually upon entering public bathrooms, which I endeavour to avoid wherever possible.

I don't know.

Anyways, that Lola is one hell of a lass ;) Lol. She's played by the same guy that Keira Knightley's (yum) character marries in Love, Actually...Incidentally, another movie I'm fond of. Even though it is a chick flick...Which I'd rather not discuss, lol.

Going to biff off and catch up on some Jooster fic that I've missed. Most pleased, too, that I might have cracked my troubles with writing Hugh for my Stugh letters. Maybe.

Peace.
