So...Nothing really of note to report.
On Thursday it was very hot. Very hot. It was 43 degrees Celsius...Which is, in Fahrenheit, 109.4 degrees. But then, later in the day, it pissed down with rain and got so cold and windy one could pretty much go "uh-oh, something's not right with the weather". Whether that's true or not, I'm not sure - perhaps it's like every other summer, but I think we're lead to believe that Global Warming is responsible for all major shifts in weather.
Anyway. Nothing happened yesterday (more work - how awful) but on my arrival home I discovered a box on the doorstep. The first two of my six books from Amazon had arrived!!!! Both of the Stephen Fry books, in fact!!! Most chuffed. So I spent about seven and a half hours reading Moab is my Washpot. I finished it this morning and can't wait to tackle The Liar.
I've said it before and I'm going to say it again; I love Mr. Fry as a writer (an actor too, of course). I love his command of the English language and I love that I can hear his voice when I read his books. I loved that during Moab he rambled around with various veins of stories to make a point in the main story - I likened it to watching Billy Connolly doing an act...So much deviating from the what seems to be the original plot or point, but you realise that you've never really left the path of that main story. Fantastic!
Oh! I also bought myself some (very hard to come by recently) Polaroid film. $30 for ten exposures, I believe. I found my Polaroid camera a few days ago and decided to find some film. What a fucking mission that was!!! Anyway, I've popped off four rather shaky exposures, only one of which is any good, really. Those cameras are a lot of fun, though, I have to say - I mean, there's a lot to be said for the world of digital photography, what with the perfection and clarity of the pictures, but I don't think they are as real as regular or Polaroid film...And there's something about having that real tangible photo right in your hand...Something to wave about or be able to instantaneously blackmail someone with.
Perfect.
