Mac Guy Was Here...

 
Ladies and gents...And everyone else, of course...You are lucky to bear witness to this.

My first (somewhat meaningless) entry on my brand new 13" Macbook.

Today we (my mother, Snappy and myself) went into the city. First stop, the ABC Shop where I used my $50 gift card to get the new Stephen Fry book Stephen Fry in America and a Billy Connolly DVD (how I love him so, lol). We then proceeded to the Apple Store (three floors of technological goodness) and I was assisted by a cool guy called Iver. He was extremely helpful and even though he knew everything about everything (as you'd expect from good help), he wasn't pompous or an arse about it. I made my recession stopping purchase of the 13" Macbook, a Mighty Mouse (and it is mighty), the iWork pack (word processor, spreadsheet thingo and presentation program), a wireless printer/scanner/copier and (yes, and) a neoprene case. I'm not poor, but I'm getting there. I then took an hour long trip to the big Dymocks to spend my $80 gift card where I bought....

• Bryson's Dictionary fpr Writers and Editors by (our literary lord) Bill Bryson
• Introducing Freud by Richard Appignanessi and Oscar Zarate
• The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

So, again, I'm not poor, but I've got a lot of new stuff to play with and a few great and really interesting books. I can't wait to get my fangs into the Fry and Bryson books; both of them are great writers and I get great joy (sounds over the top, but it's not) out of reading anything from either author.
