Avast.
Alrighty then.
Meant to go for a run this arvo after work, but I was rooted.
Hung out with the Sailor yesterday after work and crashed out at hers. She made me dinner, lol. It was good though, because I got the opportunity to ask a myriad of very basic Naval questions and find out a bit more about it all, which was really cool. Watched this show on the ABC, I think, about Clearance Divers (A.K.A. Bubble Heads), and dude, no fucking way. That's a stupid job.
Woke up at ridiculous o'clock - OK, 6am - and the Sailor left at about half past for work. Have to get a good parking space, you know. Yer. So, I took my time and enjoyed that, actually. Watched the news (nothing exciting happening in the world, don't worry), had a cigarette, rerereread the Gap Year pamphlet (which I am borrowing) and then had a tubs (lol, a shower - sailorspeak is beginning to edge its way into my head). I got changed, had another smoke and fucked off to work. Man, it was raining, but I didn't have to wait long for a cab, so that was awesome.
Back to that Diver thingo for a tick. We were talking about it last night about how Clearance Diver is the only Naval rank a woman is not capable/eligible/allowed to attain - or even shoot for. I mean, I've no problem with that, it looks fucking scary, lol, but interestingly enough, there are a couple of reasons as to why. One, the strength thing because men are physically stronger (by and large) than women, but number two (the creepy reason) is that the depths that the divers dive to have insane pressures...That kind of pressure has been known to burst fallopian tubes. Nice, right?
So.
Booked a session for 9am, November 18th to go to the Parramatta DFRC (Defence Force Recruitment Centre) to have a chat with the (hopefully) nice people there about maybe getting to the next step of my great adventure (lol). Must bring ID, employment histories, educational certificates etc, etc, etc. Have to dig all that shit up, lol.
Nervous? Yer.
Must get to the pools soon....Interestingly enough swimming has never been a strong suit. It's going to have to be. Lucky me. Heh, maybe I can ride to the pools and get in double the workout...And give myself an extra rest day. Clever and lazy.
I'm awfully sorry that this post isn't really about anything interesting. I've got...Pretty much nothing going on right now, so this is more or less stream-of-consciousness crap.
Peace.
P.S. If I get in, I go to Victoria.
