Piece from ages ago...
The difference between killing and murder is not, as one would think, an extensive prison sentence. Nay, the difference between the two acts is intimacy.
Murder is cold and clinical. Murder is messy and dirty and unpleasant like wet socks or dirt under the fingernails. Murder is fruitless and easy. No attachment or real connection.
But killing, killing! To kill is to be full of passion. It is equated with things like red wine, cool dark wood and a good time ending much too soon.
Both are unfortunate, make no mistake, but one is about being an animal and the other is about being human. One is about having an instinct and the other is about having an experience.
