Oi.

 Oi vey.

So, this is my last day of holidays. I go back to work tomorrow and I can not express to you just how thrilled I am about that. Whoopee. Seriously, being up early, on public transport, on my feet all day with people I can't stand doing a job I don't like. Yay. But it's not forever, so there's an upside...It's just a means to an end.

Got new glasses on Friday, they're pretty cool. And very different to my old ones. Again, I've been meaning to upload pictures, but I've been a lazy little fucker. Anyhow, my old specs were plain black, thin frames and these ones are thicker with the main frame being black and the arms being black and red. Very fancy. And I don't have a headache because of them anymore which is definately nice.

At the Optometrist's I was saying how I was sure that my right eye had gone downhill a lot in the last six months or so, but afterward, he told me (hurriedly scribbling figures down, as he does) that my right eye had just adjusted to being more far sighted than near sighted because I'm not sitting at a desk anymore or studying all the time, so it's more beneficial right now to be a little less short sighted. I'm not wholly sure on how that works, but whatever. I'm not blind, so that's cool.

Gruh. Not at all looking forward to be going back to work. Aw.

Been watching the Olympics. So pissed that the Czech women's basketball team lost against the US. Man, they had the lead and everything and then I guess they got complacent. Damnit. Also saw Grant Hackett lose the 400m men's swimming relay today...Again, complacency. The fucker came sixth!!!! Sixth!!!!! I don't know how that could have happened, considering our country is one surrounded (girt) by sea, so he ought to have had plenty of practice. Fortunately I can ignore him and lay plenty of praise on our other swimmers, especially Stephanie Rice (number one, baby!) and the Australian women's swimming relay team, well done as per usual. Our rowers did well in their heats yesterday, the Czechs didn't and the Brits did just fine. Also, guys, the Socceroos have done well too. Yay. So far so good, keep up the good work, Aussies, we're cheering you on.

Normally I'm not one for sports or anything, really, but you really can't help but get a bit passionate and involved when it comes to the Olympics. I mean, seeing your country out there, kicking the absolute guts out of everyone else in a sporting event just makes you well up with pride, doesn't it? My American friends (who've been paying attention, of course) would know this feeling just fine from watching Michael Phelps break a record in the swimming today. Lucky. But seriously, it's awesome, to me at least, to be able to see these people doing what they were put here to do...They're fucking machines, lol. That's what makes us love them - they are the best. Completely unsurpassable by us plebs and ordinary people.

Just one thing, though. It's a wee question that needs to be asked, and hopefully someone out there can ask it to someone who can do something about it.....The question is, how long had badminton been an Olympic sport? And the next question is, how can I have not noticed this??? It's not a fucking sport! It's a backyard game...Like cricket, bowls, netball, AFL, golf and table tennis. I don't care what anyone says, anything involving a piece of apparatus called a "shuttlecock" is not a sport. End conversation.

So, here endeth my largely Olympics based rant for today. I will be watching and cheering (albeit quietly, don't want to wake the neighbours) and I hope you will too. Our athletes need our support, but I'm sure they all know we're behind them 100% (except for Hackett who is in complete disgrace).

P.S. I'm on such an Olympics jag that the other night I ate a Big Mac (ugh) just to get a limited edition Olympics Coca-Cola glass.

P.P.S. Speaking of Big Macs, may Bernic Mac rest in peace in which ever crazy version of heaven he finds himself in.
