WYD08: We close 300 roads so 300,000 people can close their minds.

And I'm back. Again. And I actually feel awful for not being more constant. Hopefully I'll have more opportunity soon because from August 28th to July 11th, I'm on holidays!!

Anyway. Sydney's been full of Catholic pilgrims due to World Youth Day (week, more like) and it's driving everyone insane. Every morning and afternoon the trains have been packed with these strange, cheerful, brightly coloured Catholics. An odd bunch. NonPilgrims have been wearing very funny shirts with slogans such as, "World Ute Day: Ford is my shepherd", "Hitler Youth or Holy Father" and my personal favourite, "Sponsor a lion for WYD08: 300,000 pilgrims and one stadium". But unfortunately there are hefty fines of $5500 in place is anyone is caught "annoying" the pilgrims or refusing to remove their offensive T-shirt. And they don't think cramming our public transport system with extra people and shutting down our city is annoying??? Yeah it is.

Aside from that, been writing a bit. Got something to post soon. I've been working out a new system for my fics so I can see what still needs to be done/addressed. It's working well so far. My holidays are going to be busy, though, lol.

The Dark Night came out on Thursday. Daniel from work saw it and highly recommended it. All of the reviews have been great, but I wanted to know what an actual person thought because I was a little worried that the reviews were only so good because of Heath Ledger. Apparently, though, it is worth watching. But who am I kidding?? I'm going to see it over my fortnight off. Well, that and the X-Files movie. Guh!!

So, without too much further ado, here's something I wrote which was prompted by a book I got through reading. It's not cheerful and has the potential to be quite triggering for some people.

I could show you, if you want, how to be a man. How to do it like the big boys do it - You can be just like them with a little practice.

I could show you if you want, how to ease your aches and pains. A backrub and some warm, slippery oil can make your hurts go away.

I could show you, if you want, all the things your parents won't let you see or do, like those movies you've only heard about or your first taste of alcohol.

I could show you, if you want, how to change your life - you'll become afraid of the dark, love me more than your parents and lose all of your friends.

I could show you, if you want, howw you'll cease to be - your days will become your nightmares; lost and afraid and alone, you will succumb to me.
