A paltry offering of sorts...

So, um, out of sheer boredom and a profound urge to procrastinate on my homework, I got the original Japanese script of the Ike/Soren A-support base convo thing from Pegasus Knight and did my own translation of it, with much help from Rikaichan.



I didn't reference the fan or official NoA translation when I did this; I went straight off of the Japanese. Also, note that I didn't bother to translate the speakers' names (but I'm sure you can figure out who's talking).

［セネリオ］

アイク……　その…

Ike... That...
あなたは…もしかして……▼

Are you... possibly...

［アイク］

忘れてて、すまなかった。

I'm sorry for forgetting.

［セネリオ］

！

［アイク］

思い出した、全部。

I remember, all of it.
ガリアでのことを……

What happened in Gallia...
お前と出会った時のことを。▼

When I met you.

［セネリオ］

………あ……………▼

....Ah.......

［アイク］

あの日……

That day...
母さんはミストを連れて
買い物に出かけ、▼

Mother took Mist out shopping
俺は…街をぶらぶらしながら

I... was wandering around town
森の入り口のほうへ向かった。

and I turned toward the forest entrance.
そこに黒い髪の男の子が倒れていた。▼

A black-haired boy had collapsed there.

［セネリオ］

［アイク］

俺と同じぐらいの年に見えたが……

He looked about my same age but...
ひどく細くて汚れていて

He was terribly thin and dirtied
いまにも死んでしまいそうだった。▼

and looked about to die at any moment.
俺は自分の昼飯を差し出した。▼

I offered my lunch to him.
最初は警戒していたようだが

He seemed wary at first but
おそるおそる俺の手から

食べ物をひったくると夢中で食べていた。▼

he timidly snatched the food from my hand and began eating voraciously.
俺はもう食べるものをもってなくて

I had no more food with me so
うちに来ればいいと誘ってみたが
その子は首を振るばかりだった。▼

I invited him to come home with me but he just kept shaking his head.

［セネリオ］

［アイク］

じゃあ明日また同じ時間に
ここに食べ物を持ってくるからというと、

So I told him the same time tomorrow I'd bring food here,
ずいぶん時間をかけてからやっと頷いた。▼

and after a long time he finally nodded.
あのとき俺は、自分がはじめて
人の役に立った気がして嬉しかったんだ。▼

That was the first time I felt I had been useful to someone, and I was happy.

［セネリオ］

……僕も…嬉しかった。

....I was.... happy too.
飢餓が満たされたことより、▼

Even more than having my hunger satisfied,
自分に声をかけて
助けてくれる人がいたことが……

Having someone who spoke to me and helped me...
とても…嬉しかったんです。▼

That made me so... happy.
だから次の日も…村へ。

So the next day I... went to the village.
村人たちの冷たい仕打ちにあうのは
怖かったけど…それでも……▼

I was afraid to meet with the cold treatment of the villagers but... even so...

あそこはガリアだったからな。▼

べオクたちは
ラグズとの揉め事を避けるために
“印”のある子供に冷たかったんだな？▼

In order to avoid conflict with the laguz, the beorc there were cold to the "marked" children, weren't they?

ええ…疫病神だと言われ

and pelted with stones.
だけど、村は様変わりしていた。

暴走した親父が…やったことだ。▼

僕は、あなたがいないかと
死体を1つ1つ調べてまわりました。

I checked the bodies one by one to see if you were there.
そして…そこにあなたはいなかった。▼

And... You weren't.
だからきっと生きていると思い

So I thought you must be alive
村にあるお金と食べ物を持って

and I took the money and food in the village
べオクの国クリミアを目指したんです。▼

and headed for the beorc nation of Crimea.

その道中の樹海で、

In the forests along the way,
幾度も獣牙族に遭遇しました。▼

I encountered members of the beast tribe several times.
初めは恐ろしくて震えましたが、

At first I trembled with fear, but
襲われたことは
ただの一度もありませんでした。▼

I was never attacked even once.
何度めかに気付きましたが……

I noticed several times...
獣たちは、僕の何かを察知し

The beasts sensed something about me
それで見えないように振舞うのだと。▼

and acted as if I were invisible.
見る目でわかるんです。▼

I understood from the way they looked at me.
いきなり、さも汚い物を見るような
蔑んだ冷たい眼差しを向け

Suddenly giving me a cold, disgusted look as if seeing something filthy
その後、何も見なかったかのように去る。▼

and after that, leaving as if they hadn't seen anything.
それは…ある意味、襲われるよりも

That... In a way,
ずっと心を冷たくする行為でした。▼

that act froze my heart far more than being attacked would have.
自分はこの世に存在してはいけない者。

I was someone who should not exist in this world.
ただそこに居るだけで
Just being there
嫌悪されるモノなのだと………▼

made me a repulsive thing...
僕は…自分にそんな思いをさせる
獣を憎みました。▼

I... hated the beasts that made me have such thoughts.

クリミアについた僕は

When I arrived in Crimea I
一番近い教会を訪ねました。▼

visited the nearest church.
そこでは、僕の“印”が役立ち
魔道の才のある子だということで

There my "mark" was taken to mean I was a useful child skilled in magic
それなりの世話が受けられました。▼

And they took me in.
話し方や一般的な常識を学んだ僕は、

クリミア国内を数年さ迷って……

and wandered around Crimea for many years...

だけど…それでもよかった。

暖かい手を差し伸べてくれた
少年に会いたかっただけだから。▼

Because I just wanted to meet that boy who was

the only person... to reach out a warm hand to me.

セネリオ、泣くな。▼

Soren, don't cry.

［セネリオ］

泣く…？

Cry...?
僕は……泣いて…？▼

I'm... crying...?

［アイク］

おまえ、頭がいいのに

You're so smart and yet
普通のことが下手くそすぎだ。▼

you're way too hopeless when it comes to ordinary things.
ほら、来い。▼

Hey now, come here.

［セネリオ］

こ、子供扱いしないでください。

P-Please don't treat me like a child.
僕は……そんな…………▼

I'm... not....

［アイク］

いいから。▼

It's all right.

［セネリオ］

ったく、世話の焼ける。▼

Geez, you're such a bother.

（アイク近づく）
