[Crossposted to my own journal] Random essay on Kent, Sain, and the seme/uke thing

Almost all the KentxSain fic I've read has Sain as the uke. While I've no problem with this at all, after awhile I started wanting to see some fic with Kent as the uke. And recently, I've come to sort of prefer that.

Why? I look at it this way: Stereotypically, the seme is controlled with his emotions and the uke is more spastic. But on the other hand, there's also the shy uke and the outgoing seme.

I think of Kent and Sain as the latter. Kent may seem seme-ish when he's trying to keep his partner in line, and he's very confident and honorable in the way he speaks...as a knight. When it comes to matters of the heart, though, he's very shy and not all that confident, as seen in all of his romantic supports. He even says himself that talking to women isn't his strong suit in his B support with Sain.

Sain, however...he might not be all that successful in romance, but he's confident as they get. He isn't afraid to speak his mind or his heart to a woman, never lets the constant rejection get him down, and is just basically sure of himself. (The only time he ever falters with a woman is with Priscilla, but that's another subject for another time)

Thus, my preference. ^_^

Though when you look at it from both sides, they're each both seme AND uke at the same time. Kent is more in control on the battlefield, but Sain is stronger about passion and love.

So ultimately, my REAL preference is to have em alternate. XD;;
