Round 5 prompt post and rules
Prompting
Prompts will be accepted from now until the 24th. There is no need to repost prompts from earlier rounds, as of last round's prompts that weren't written will be reposted and ready to claim this year as well.
You can comment here (or on the DW post) to leave your prompts.
You can also leave them in the ask box on tumblr, but between the limits and tumblr's habit of losing messages entirely, it may not get through.
There is no limit to how many prompts you can make, nor how many you can claim. You also don't need to be a member of the community or challenge to leave prompts. Prompts can be claimed by as many people as want them, and yes, art is very welcome too.
I can't emphasize this enough. The more prompts you leave, the less I have to worry about as a mod, so don't feel bad about leaving tons of prompts.
Now for some examples of prompts:
Fire Emblem 8, Gilliam/Syrene – I'd wait for you
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Geoffey/Elincia – Geoffrey comforts her on the morning of her coronation with stories of old times.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Ike/Soren + Mercenary ensemble – superhero au.
There doesn't need to be a uniform mention in how you label the prompts – either number, game title or universe will do, as they're going to be all sorted by game when I post them anyways.
You can also request no side pairings, or request a pre canonical happening.
That would be like:
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Rolf/Mist – holding hands and first kisses (nothing over PG-13, please.)
Fire Emblem 7, Kent/Lyn – "You mean you've never made a grass flute? Here, let me show you–" (No other pairings than this, please.)
Fire Emblem (Tellius pre-canon), Lehran/Altina – I have seen a thousand sunsets in your eyes.
Pure gen is also allowed, and should be requested like so:
Fire Emblem 8, Franz, Forde, – teasing Franz about his first date (gen)
You can specify certain pairings allowed in your restricted request, but not specify what pairings or types of pairings (het, femslash, slash) can't come in. For example, you could ask for Lowen/Rebecca – Taking Wolt for his first play date to meet Roy (Eliwood/Ninian is fine, but please no other pairings than this) but you couldn't request Rath/Lyn – taking to the plains (No slash or femslash allowed) or Boyd/Mist – awkward dancing (absolutely no Ike/Soren mentions)
If you're especially worried about a certain pairing showing up, simply ask it to be side-pairing free.
You can also ask for any series prompts, a character/anyone prompts and crossovers, whether they involve crossovers of FE centric games or not. They'd go like this:
Any series/any pairing - Hurt/comfort in the rain
FE 6 - Karel/anyone - "You remind me of someone I knew long ago."
FE 8/10, Heather/L'Arachel - "Someone as beautiful as you shouldn't sleep alone."
Fire Emblem 10/Marvel comics - Ike/Soren and Peter/Johnny - it'll be too soon if Soren never hears the word 'double date' again.
Ok, now to clarify on something which didn't occur to me when originally writing up the rules.
Prompts can be combined, within reason. Say I had claimed FE9/10, Ike/Soren - breathing lessons. However, realizing it covered the same ground, I could combine it with any/any - hurt/comfort in the rain. I couldn't however, add FE9/10, Tibarn/Reyson - under the shelter of your wings if there was a minor mention/subplot of them.
There's no limit to how many themes can be combined.
To leave prompts, you can put them in the comments of either the Dreamwidth or Livejournal entries. You can leave them in the ask box on tumblr, but between the limits and tumblr's habit of losing messages entirely, it may not get through.
Content rules
As of four rounds in, there's been no heavy restrictions on content. At the moment, I'll keep it this way unless something happens to push for harsher rules. Of the many entries we've had, there hasn't been a single one which even needed a larger warning. However, if your piece contains non-con, explicit underage, or extreme violence, you should tag it as such. Also NC-17 works in general should either be linked to, be under a cut, or tagged nsfw.
Fanworks
The minimum is 100 words for pieces for writing, and there is no maximum. As for art, having no skill of my own in that sector, I'll leave that up to the discernment of the artist themselves. Whether it turns a sketch, an oekaki-based bit, or a whole multiple page comic, whatever. However, generally doodles on the back of coffee napkins with food stains would be pushing it a bit.
Stories can be as long as the inspiration provides, and yes, they can be posted in WIP format if the plot bunnies get away from you. You don't need to have all of the WIP done by the deadline, and if life gets the better of you and you can't post on time or lose inspiration, defaulting won't bar you from later rounds or besmirch your honor in any way.
When it comes time to post in dreamwidth and Livejournal, here's the format:
Title:
Series (or "Game" if you prefer)
Character/Pairing:
Rating:
Summary (optional)
Word count:
Author's Note:
and then put it behind a lj-cut, or link to a post containing it.
To post to tumblr, you can either post with Fefestmod in one of the five tags, or submit it to the community. The first five tags part is imperative, as anything after that won't show up in tracked tags.
Art on tumblr does not need this header, as it won't be under a cut.
Betas are encouraged, but not necessary as not everyone has one or for those last-minute fics done just under the bar.
Note that if anyone feels particularly shy, you can claim as an anon. You need to contact me via PM or comment on the claims post when it comes up. On tumblr, posts can be submitted anonymously to the community, or linked from anonymous posts on hosting sites such as Archive of our own.
Got a question? PM me, leave a comment or send an ask. Just make sure you're actually set to allow incoming private messages because, had that happen before.
