Spirit
The vital principle or animating force within living beings. The essential nature of a person or group. A actual though unstated sense or significance of something. The predominant mood of an era. Alternately, an outright supernatural being. We talk of the spirit of the times, the spirit of the law, of team spirit, of the lingering spirits of the departed. Our heroes may be grappling with the parameters of their quests or haunted by the remnants of loved ones-- or enemies. Or perhaps the dilemma is, as Voltaire put it, "He who has not the spirit of this age, has all the misery of it."
Entries are due by Sunday, May 9th, 2010 at midnight EST time! If you need an extension, you can hit me up with a PM or you can hit me up via AIM (screen name Mannadon) to ask!
Something to keep in mind: even though the deadline is at midnight, you may submit entries until we close submissions, whether it's an hour past the deadline or two days. Sometimes we moderators get busy or bogged down with life, and I don't think it's fair to make participants stick with deadlines if a moderator can't close submissions on time.
