[Challenge 004] "Divine Weapon"
Title: Divine Weapon
Game: Fire Emblem 9/10
Word Count: 457
Pairings/Characters: General cast
Warnings: None
Author's Notes: Short, sweet and craptastic. But I wanted to do something before SakuraCon this weekend. I wrote this when I should have been working so it feels a bit rushed. Oh well. I wrote this because I liked the challenge. :3 Anyway, this is unbeta'ed, so all mistakes are mine.

To temper a weapon, it had to be repeatedly subjected to harsh conditions. First came the heat of the fire in order to make the metal malleable, and then repeated striking to form it so it could be effectively used.
Crimea's army, at least by its general’s ideals, was no different.
Of course one had to start with the raw materials.
The Greil Mercenaries were drafted by Princess Elincia to escort her to Gallia where she hoped she could receive aid in reclaiming her fallen country. They did so, but not without their fair share of heartache. The loss of their founder and leader weighed heavily on them; a scar that would never fully heal and they would carry with them forever.
Once in Gallia, their job was supposed to be over. However Gallia was unable to help her, beyond offering her shelter. The Greil Mercenaries once again agreed to help the princess, this time with a few of Gallia's soldiers within their ranks.
On their way to Begnion to seek aid from the Apostle, their ranks grew again. A few members of Crimea's Royal Knights along with members of a local militia were freed from a Daein controlled prison, and wholeheartedly joined their princess. Then a volunteer from a local vanguard and a girl the troop had earlier helped joined up.
Perhaps the odds additions of all came in the forms of a Daein Dracoknight who had at first pursued them and then found herself stranded, and a young thief who had stowed away on the ship that was carrying the recently formed Crimea Liberation Army to Begnion.
Once in Begnion, after a few more trials and tribulations, they were granted a few members of the Apostle's Holy Guard. Interestingly enough, they were also joined by the last surviving Serenes prince and two hawks from Phonicis who had been assigned as the prince's personal guard.
Then, when crossing through Daein they picked up two more soldiers from Daein's army.
Truly, the raw materials were diverse and not without their flaws.
But this was where the chaos of battle had come in. The chaos of battle was quick to form strong bonds between the soldiers, regardless of where they came from. Everyone depended on each other for survival. Regardless of how many blows they took, or the constant fire they might have been under, they fought back, refusing to break under the pressure.
The end result was a finely crafted weapon that Ike wielded (with Soren and Titania's help, of course) with perfection. It had been tempered, seemingly, in the very flames of Hell. Soon they would face the Devil himself.
Then, and only then, would the true abilities of this divinely tempered weapon be ultimately tested.
