With its humbling warmth and insistent chatter, the Weasley's home was everything he never had as a child.

Laughter sounded, cutlery clattered and a beaming Mrs Weasley levitated yet another delicious dessert onto the groaning table. Just then, Harry felt Ginny squeeze his leg. She smiled, the ring glittering on her finger and Harry knew that it was time to tell them all. As he glanced around the table at the wonderful family before him, Harry decided that he couldn't wait to become a Weasley.

The couple, notorious for having eluded reporters in the past, wed last Sunday afternoon at the Bride’s childhood home in the small village of Ottery St. Catchpole.

Potter, who for three years since his fundamental role in the Battle of Hogwarts has evaded the charms of many an adoring witch, has instead remained strangely devoted to the young Miss Weasley, famed for her fiery temper on pitch and off! Of course, there is no questioning Miss Weasley beauty and her large following of adoring fans, but is she really ‘the one’ for the most famous wizard in Britain?

Lavender Brown, who went to school with both Potter and Weasley shed some light on the couples past. “I suppose you could say that they’ve been together since Ginny was fifteen,” she told me, “he kissed her right in the middle of Gryffindor common room in sixth year! We were all really shocked!” Another mutual friend of the couple, Seamus Finnigan, added, “there were understandably many things that kept them apart during that one terrible year, but after…. there was no stopping them! I’m actually surprised it’s taken them this long to tie the knot!”

However, Potter was by no means Weasley’s first love! From her time at Hogwarts Ginny had a string of unsuccessful relationships, two of Potter’s good friends Neville Longbottom and Dean Thomas among them. Surprisingly, both are said to have attended the wedding. Yet another blast from the past came in the form of Potter's old flame, the power hungry, Muggle-born Hermione Granger, who acted as Maid of Honour. Shocking to say the least, we can only guess what Granger's motives were in befriending the bride...

The wedding itself allegedly took place inside a large white marquee, magically enchanted to accommodate the wide array of Potter and Weasley’s guests. Eyewitnesses reported an influx of movement in the area on the day of the wedding and several Ministry officials were brought in to deal with a number of Muggles that were found wandering around in a neighboring field, completely confounded by a particularly strong Muggle-Repelling charm that had been cast.

There is no doubt in the minds of the witches of Brittan that any wedding of Mr Potter would be one worth attending even if it was Miss Weasley that donned the white gown. “Of course it was fabulous!” I was told by Weasley’s great Aunt, who was more than happy to tell me about the grand ceremony, “Harry looked beyond handsome and my niece, well, I suppose she has a certain charm… even if she was showing a little too much skin for my taste!” She carried on to say, “I can’t be telling you too much about it, Rita, dear, but let’s just say it won’t be a wedding I’ll soon be forgetting!”

Through a helpful source at the Ministry, I am able to confirm that the newly married Mr and Mrs Potter left the country early yesterday morning via portkey. The destination of their honeymoon, however, could not be disclosed and neither Potter nor his bride was available for comment. It seems the duo has once again escaped without so much as a whisper, but the truth is this - Miss Weasley, the fiery Harpies chaser, at the young age of 20 has beaten off all the others and secured her place by Potter’s side. So all that remains to be said is the question hanging on everyone’s lips – will it last?

Thank you, Kathy :)

Harry lay on his back, his arms resting behind his head, staring up at the skies above. The sun shone brightly over head and Harry felt its pleasant warmth on his forearms and face. White, cotton-like clouds moved slowly across the undisturbed sky, blue as forget-me-nots. Beside him, the lake shimmered in the sunlight, the occasional tentacle reaching up out of the water.

Lying on the grass beside him was Ginny, her body curled against his side and one of her legs thrown across his. Her hand leisurely trailed over his chest and a gentle shiver ran though him. He in turn ran a hand though her long red tresses, feeling more contented than he could ever remember feeling.

Harry was immensely grateful for any moment spent alone with Ginny, whether it be down by the lake at lunchtime or curled up in one of the squishy armchairs in the Gryffindor common room after dinner. He couldn’t help but crave her presence and the happy, carefree feelings that she bestowed upon him.

“What are you staring at?” Ginny asked quietly, propping herself up on one elbow.

“The clouds,” said Harry, watching one that looked very much like the blue Ford Anglia that he and Ron hijacked in their second year. It sailed slowly behind another and disappeared from view. When he turned to face Ginny, he saw that she was smirking at him. “What?” he demanded at once.

Her expression was amused when she asked, “It just... is that really all you want to do? Watch clouds all lunch break?”

Harry grinned, hearing the humour in her voice and reached out to drawn her nearer to him. Ginny shrieked with laugher as he tickled her sides and attempted to wriggle from his grasp, but Harry held on to her. He shifted until she was pinned beneath his arms. “What do you suggest we do then?”

“Well... this for one thing,” she said, before leaning forward and capturing his lips in a kiss. “The way I see it, we have to take advantage of every moment that Ron’s not around making gagging noises behind our backs.”

“I’m with you on that one,” Harry agreed, smiling to himself at the thought of Ron’s expression if he saw them now, entwined on the grass beneath the leafy sycamore. Ginny shifted beneath him and Harry was momentarily distracted by her eyes, dark brown and gazing up at him. Before he knew it she was kissing him again, her distinctive floral smell wafting in the air around them.

“Harry,” Ginny murmured after several long minutes, she lifted a hand and gently swept the hair from his face. Her finger lightly traced the shape of the lightning bolt scar on his forehead and despite it being such a warm day, Harry shivered. Her hand came down to rest against his cheek and he unconsciously leaned into her touch.

“I’m going to be late for Charms,” she whispered.

Harry signed, knowing that she was right. “Do you think Hermione would hex me if I kept you here with me all afternoon instead?”

Ginny giggled, her fingers toying with the collar of his shirt. “Probably... but then again, maybe I don’t care what she thinks,” she said with a fierce kind of determination in her eyes.

“Me neither,” Harry grinned, rolling them across the soft grass and his lips finding hers once more.

A big thank you to Kathy for beta-reading!

Harry woke with a start, emerging from the darkness of his nightmare in a cold sweat.

For a long while he lay, tangled in his sheets, staring up at the attic ceiling and willing the heartless imagery of his unconscious to leave him. A light, balmy breeze blew though the open window slightly to the right of Ron’s bed on the other side of the room and cooled his feverish skin. It was some time before he felt his breathing return to normal and his heart cease pounding in his chest. Harry sighed as he glanced over at Ron sleeping soundly in his own bed, his duvet half on the floor. He was snoring gently and Harry suddenly envied Ron and his uncanny ability to fall into such deep slumber.

Finally, he gave up trying to fall back to sleep, flung his sheets to one side and rolled out of his small camp bed. He grabbed his glasses from the bedside table and pushed them up his nose and buckled Fabian Prewett’s dented, old watch to his wrist. Hastily he looked about for the jeans lying in a pile on the floor where he’d discarded them two hours earlier, and pulled them on.

He decided he needed some air, and like so many other nights since returning to The Burrow, he quietly crept out of Ron’s bedroom. The Burrow was silent as he noiselessly descending the many stairs, when he reached the first floor landing he paused outside Ginny’s bedroom and stared at the closed door.

Ginny.

Harry couldn’t stop his mind from thinking about her or imagining her sleeping form lying peacefully in her bed completely unaware that he was longing to be there with her. Reluctantly, he turned away and continued down to the kitchen and out the back door. The long, light evening was coming to a close. The sun's last lingering rays of light were falling beyond the horizon as he walked across the unruly lawn towards the orchard. Just past the gate, he took the usual route though the trees, weaving down the gentle slope until he reached a small clearing.

Harry stopped short when he saw her, kneeling on the earth by Fred’s grave. He had no idea that she would be out here. For a moment he stood, staring at her figure in the shadow of the large oak beside her. Her flaming red hair was swept over one shoulder and a thin slither of light fell upon the side of her face. As Harry took a step closer, a twig snapped underfoot.

......................................................................................................................................................

Ginny weaved her wand between her fingers; the movement entirely unconscious for her eyes were focused on the stone slab before her where the name Fred Weasley was inscribed in elegant script. The light had almost completely disappeared since she’d first arrived in the orchard, but the summer air was warm against her skin.

Her gaze broke when a bird fluttered in the tree above and she tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear. She could barely stand the silence, there was never meant to be silence in the place of Fred’s laughter. In his absence all she could do was remember the times spent in this very place with him.

She sighed and looked up at the sky above. Tonight, however, it hadn’t been Fred that brought her from her bed to sit beneath the canopy of leafy trees, it was Harry. In less than an hour it would be the thirty-first of July and exactly one year since the last time they’d last shared a moment alone. Ginny longed for that day, for the way he’d held her, for the way he--

Suddenly the sound of a twig breaking just behind her broke though her thoughts and she whirled around, her grip automatically tightening on her wand.

......................................................................................................................................................

Harry winced as his loud footfalls broke the silence in the orchard. Ginny’s reaction was immediate. She was on her feet, wand drawn before he could utter a single word. For a moment she stared at him, her expression hard and steady. Then her body relaxed and she lowered her wand.

“Harry,” she muttered, relieved, while stowing her wand back in her jeans pocket, “didn’t you know it’s dangerous to sneak up on an armed witch. You’re lucky I didn’t hex you.”

“I’m more than lucky,” said Harry, knowing full well the strength of Ginny’s infamous Bat-Bogey Hex.

She smiled at him. “Out for a midnight stroll?”

“Something like that,” he said, shuffling his feet slightly. “I couldn’t sleep.”

“I know the feeling,” she sighed, turning back towards her brother’s grave.

Harry studied her expression, noticing the way her skin sprinkled with freckles looked almost slivery in the moonlight that peeped through the canopy of leaves above. Something deep inside his chest roared with appreciation. “Ginny...” he began, not quite sure of what he wanted to say.

She looked around expectantly and he hesitated before asking, “Want some company?”

“Yeah,” Ginny nodded and smiled brightly, “yeah I do.”

Harry closed the short distance between them and went over to stand by her side. “Do you come out here a lot?”

“Sometimes. When I can’t sleep, I come out here to think,” said Ginny. After a moment she smiled slightly, “Actually...”

Harry heard the hesitation in her voice and asked, “What is it?”

“Well... I was actually just deciding on what I was going to give you for your birthday tomorrow.”

Harry looked at her face in profile. Her half-closed eyes, the colour of melted chocolate, glanced towards him and his mind immediately flashed to the year before. He could scarcely believe that it had only been twelve months since he’d held her close to him and felt the softness of her lips against his. It seemed like an eternity from where he stood now. After all they’d been though, how did he begin to tell her that he wanted her back?

“Has it really been a whole year?” Harry said, mostly to himself.

“Yes,” Ginny whispered, gazing straight ahead. Harry’s heart pumped a little faster as he felt her hand, small and warm, take hold of his. “I’ve decided that your present this year will have to far better than last year's gift.”

Harry felt a grin spread across his face, “Are you sure you’re going to be able to top the best birthday present someone had even given me?”

Ginny snot him a blazing look, her eyes bright, “Don’t worry, I will.”

“To be honest, I only want one thing for my birthday,” Harry admitted, coaxing her around to face him.

“You do?”

As her brown eyes bore into his green ones, Harry found it suddenly hard to form the words he to desperately wanted to. He looked away, focusing on anything but her eyes. “If I could have anything... I’d want you and me to be together again. Really, Ginny, I wish I’d never broken up with you... but I had to...”

Slowly, Harry meet Ginny gaze and was unprepared for the softness of her expression. “I never expected anything less, Harry” she whispered, before slipping her hand across his chest and grasping hold of the front of his shirt, “it’s who you are, after all.”

Then she was kissing him, and Harry was kissing her back, immersed in the moment. He let her words wash over him, and felt a new and glorious heat spread through his veins. His arms wrapped around her, drawing her nearer to him.

Harry couldn’t have said how long they stood there under the oak tree, enveloped in one another, stirring every nerve ending in his body. However, after some time Ginny slid her hand down his arm and gently griped his hand, drawing it away from her hip. She glanced down at his watch. “It’s past midnight,” she murmured, before looking up into his eyes and whispering softly, “happy eighteenth, Harry.”

......................................................................................................................................................

Molly slipped out of bed, being carefully not to jostle Arthur who was sleeping soundly beside her. She reached out and grabbed the cloth dressing gown that hung on the bed post and pulled it tightly around her. Quietly, she walked around the bed to the window overlooking the garden, where she’d spent many a restless night over the last two months looking up at the night sky. She leaded against the window ledge and gazed out into the night, so peaceful and still.

Tonight, however, there was something more. Among the gently swaying trees in the orchard she saw two figures, hand in hand, making their way back up the winding path to The Burrow. Intrigued, Molly leaned closer to the glass, her eyes straining to make them out. At the gate they paused and although she couldn’t see their faces as they kissed, Molly knew exactly whose beds were empty. Her breath caught in her throat as tears of joy threatened to overcome her. She smiled, knowing that there would always be love.

First one I've done in ages!!

Harry sat in the mouth of the tent shivering beneath his jumpers. He knew he was meant to be on watch but he couldn’t seem to draw his gaze from the small dot marked Ginny Weasley on the worn parchment in his hands.

As he stared at Ginny’s dot, the memory of her hard blazing expression swam before his eyes. He couldn’t stop his mind from racing away from the present and imagining a time when they could be together. Distant though the vision was, Harry clung desperately to it as he stared out into the dark night once more.

Her glorious, red hair fell in tendrils across her bare shoulders and her ivory wedding dress floated gracefully whenever she moved. As he watched her, she glanced in his direction and winked.

“Look at you,” Ron said knowingly, drawing Harry’s attention away from Ginny. “You can’t take your eyes off her, can you?”

“No.” Harry admitted with a grin. “And I don’t want to either.”

Ron chuckled and thumped Harry affectionately on the back before turning away.

Just as Ron disappeared into the crowd, Ginny glided up to Harry’s side. “Let’s get out of here,” she whispered softly in his ear. Harry didn’t need to be told twice as he whisked her from the marquee and across the lawn, where he held her in his arms.

As they kissed, Harry couldn’t remember ever feeling happier.
