About Alan French
About
Alan is a Television Critic for FandomWire, while also contributing film reviews to various outlets. After years in academia, he began writing in online websites and has expanded his coverage in the years since. He attends film festivals frequently and prefers to conduct interviews with craft teams for TV and film projects. While he works outside the industry for his regular 9 to 5, he uses TV criticism as his primary outlet to explore the intersection of class and power structures. He has been an entertainment journalist for nearly a decade.
Qualification / Experience
Alan received a BA in English Literature from Florida State and an MA in Mass Communication from UCF. He was also a national champion in Impromptu speaking for Florida State University. He both competed in, and later coached Forensics for each of the aforementioned colleges.
Alan is also an individually approved Rotten Tomatoes certified critic. He was an inaugural member of the Critics Association of Central Florida, and served on their board as the Poll Officer for 3 years. He has worked as a reviewer and awards pundit since 2016.
Special Interest
In addition to TV and Film reviews, Alan loves horror movies and theme parks. You'll often catch him at the intersection of the two, including Halloween Horror Nights and Disney Halloween events. He's also an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Orlando Magic.
He also travels to National Parks on a yearly basis. His favorite park is still Joshua Tree, but Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park are the ones he's frequented the most.
