Dear Triet,

A letter for you, this time! Don't be jealous that Grandpa D got one and you didn't; I owed him one, and you get letters all the time! So many letters. Like, all of the letters. I guess I just don't usually type them out, because there were people here who knew you, and I know you didn't like to be embarrassed in front of your friends very much. But you'll just have to deal with it, because the job that I so totally got last month has me really smarting on the carpal tunnel front and if I can avoid picking up a pen, more's the better.

But yeah, um. A job. I got one. I graduated college just the other day, too, but my ceremony isn't until the seventh of October. You'll be there, won't you? I've actually thought about skipping it, but I guess I feel like I owe it to myself to go and do something like this, instead of keeping to myself. Being a shut-in isn't healthy! Did you know I only just figured that out? I could have learned a lot from you in this respect, as long as I didn't take your lessons to heart. No fucking my way across the USA, thanks.

Someday I do want to take a road trip, though. Just the way you did, with barely anything to my name but what I can carry and a credit card. It'd be spontaneous and adventurous and nothing like me at all, which is exactly why I should do it.

Just. Not right now, though. I wonder what you would have thought of me, growing up? Settling down into adulthood. Remember all our grandiose plans? How I wanted to be a rock star, how I was going to have everything in the palm of my hand, just like that? We used to talk smack about following schedules and commuting and wearing a tie, and now I'm doing that very thing every day, and I like it. Shit, man, I even balance my checkbook all by myself.

It's fucking crazy.

I wonder if... you'd recognize me. My hair's short but I'm completely girly, none of that rough-and-tumble boyish gruffness that I used to have in order to keep up with "the guys." I mean, god. You should see my nails (they're way fab, btw).

But that's not what I mean. I mean... I was thinking about what you said about how "you is you," impressive grammar aside. Abigayle is always going to be Abigayle, no matter what she calls herself or what she does with herself. That's an unchanging factor, but that doesn't stop everything else from rushing past us, or us from rushing past everything around us. Life is such a whirlwind of change, it has been ever since you left. It's hard to guess where it all stops, or if it even does. The me outside can change and even the way I think and act and talk and walk and live and breathe can change, but my very core stands still, rooted to the spot, the eye of the storm. You is you. Me is me. Grammar is grammar.

I miss your simplistic nuggets of wisdom. When I get to overthinking things, and stressing, and worrying, I try to think of something you might have said about it, or what you would say if you were here. I just did that yesterday, actually. I was standing and just breathing really heavy and panicking, not knowing what to do, and I was saying to myself, "Okay, Nino, okay, get ahold of yourself, what would Triet say? What would he tell me to do?"

See, you're like my personal Jesus now. Add that to your ego tally chart. You're still keeping track of that, right? Your points must be through the roof by now.

I can't tell you what I'm going to be doing with my life in the not-so-distant future, because I don't know. I'd like to live somewhere where it rains. Don't say Detroit, either, I swear to God. It all depends on how capable I am... but then again, there's no limit, then, is there?

I used to need to be told what to do in order to do it. But now I've integrated that strength into myself and made it my own. Your strength. It doesn't mean being independent of guidance; it just means taking it, making use of it, without having to wait for it to spell itself out. Initiative, I guess. That was your complaint about me, that I didn't have any initiative. But now I could pretty much spend another hour writing about all the things I've initiated all on my own, just in the past month. And another one writing about how you inspired me to greatness. But you've already got enough points on your ego tally chart.

I still... feel sad, when I think about you. But it's a wistful and resolute kind of sadness. The kind of thing you put inside a locket and keep around your neck, or on your mantelpiece, or in a frame on your dresser. A constant nonpresence. The kind of nonpresence that is so present that you can't help but feel heavy and light at the same time. You're everywhere and nowhere to me. I feel shocked when I see something that reminds me of you, and I want to run to AIM and tell you, but then I look at my buddy list and I see badass vampires is currently signed off and I'm like, shit. What is he doing now, this is important.

It's important, dammit. You're important. I want to tell you about my silly antics and my pets' shenanigans and my awesome girlfriend and that thing I did earlier and do you remember that time when blah blah blah and all that other Nothing crap. But, y'know. You know already.

Still. Things look good from my end, bro. It may not be the way I planned it, but I always told you I didn't want to be nothing for the rest of my life, and now I'm not. So that's one thing I can scratch off the bucket list. Next is successfully obtaining a pink pony and being able to reach the top shelf without falling off something, I'm still stuck on those two in particular. I'll let you know how those endeavors go.

excels! I think salve actually gave me the idea, and it fits because I truly excel at all that I do, wassup.

I was daikiraii before, which I got from Shikao Suga's 19sai. I don't think I'd rename again; I like excels.
❸ How much does your userinfo say about you?
NOT A LOT. I save that for the extended userinfo page, because LJ's new profiles are ugly.

Five or six years now I guess.

Few months, back when I didn't have internet due to moving or whatever. Most of the time I come up with something to say.

I'd say they're mostly all friends, or were at some point.
